The first time I was asked to sign off on the job they had left water in the air ducts and ceiling fixtures including smoke detector.
Water had been turned off in the house, ServiceMaster personnel were told in addition to a sign on the toilets that they were not in service. Staff used the toilets for urine and bowel movements without notifying me. Stench in the house when I returned was unbearable.
When my electrical contractor came to check out the wiring issues he discovered the water in the ceiling fixtures that had been pointed out to ServiceMaster staff prior to signing off on the work.
Although a lockbox was attached by a supervisor eventually the lockbox was removed by a ServiceMaster employee and the key to my door was left under the mat.
One of my neighbors saw a figure in an upstairs window at night. This was reported to Service Master. The response was that none of their trucks was in the area that night. A digital camera that had been left in the dining room area was stolen.
The rails to my bed were missing when my furniture was returned. Later I was told they had been found, but they were the wrong size for my bed. Eventually the company (or their movers) purchased new ones.
The return to my home was delayed by 10 days because of the problems.
After submitting the above review in March 2014 I received a bill from ServiceMaster of Tacoma for the costs of their services I received a bill from them in April 2014 indicating that I was responsible for the bill and nonpayment would result in my being sent to 'collections'. The contract for their services was made by the insurance company, not me. I discussed this with my insurance company adjuster and my attorney. The insurance company verified that they were responsible for the bill and it should have been submitted to them, My attorney suggested that I request a letter from the ServiceMaster General Manager.
On April 9, 2014 I received the following letter signed by the General Manager of ServiceMaster of Tacoma: This letter is to confirm that you are not responsible for paying ServiceMaster of Tacoma for anything owing on your recent claim (number redacted); we will collect from your insurance company. Also, ServiceMaster of Tacoma will not send your account to a collections agency at any point. Please disregard any previous attempts at collecting the amount owed. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our office."
Company took furniture to drying room and lost a glass top to a coffee table and did not find / replace. We had to write up an additional claim to insurance company to replace the lost top. Inconvenient.
Company was eager to leave our job site and move on to next job and ultimately left us with remaining high moisture content. Employees were pleasant but didn't do the job.
Thank goodness this was an insurance claim so we had options to use another company.
