"Thank you so much [member name removed]! We appreciate you taking time to provide us with a review. Skip is great."
as well as countertops and backsplashes, but when Ryan arrived to give us the estimate, he pointed out that having the entire stall redone would probably look a lot better, as we are completely redoing both bathrooms; ie sinks, faucets, flooring, millwork, lighting fixtures, and framing out the mirrors. We're so glad we took his suggestion, as it has made a HUGE difference. The shower stall looks brand new!! The shower stall glass and glass framing were completely removed prior to starting the process, to give the best possible result.
Eduardo arrived to start the job on time, and immediately got to work. He was very pleasant and explained exactly what he would be doing that day. Ryan had also explained the process at the time he gave us the estimate, but it was nice to hear it again and have the same thing said. It was a late afternoon appt., so the first day was spent masking, taping off and laying plastic to protect the areas that weren't done. Eduardo arrived early (7:30am) the 2nd day, and started to work. It's a pretty smelly process, even with all the venting and fans that are used. We didn't sleep in our bedroom that night, but used the guest room, due to the smell. The process is amazing and the results were exactly what we had hoped for. The consistency of the new countertops and backsplash remind me very much of the look of Corian, but not quite as smooth. The nice thing about having the backsplashes done, no more grout to clean. It is completely covered and sealed. Eduardo was able to get both countertops and backsplashes done, except for the top coat of sealant in the guest bath, that 2nd day. The 3rd morning Eduardo arrived early again (7:30am) and got the sealant applied. While that was drying, he was removing the protective coverings in the master bath. When that was done, the sealant in the guest bath had dried to the point where he could remove the protective coverings. As it takes a full 24hr. for the process to dry, we couldn't use the master bath the 1st or 2nd days. And the guest bath couldn't be used, except for toilet and tub/shower, the 2nd and 3rd days. We didn't need to have the tub in the guest bath redone because it doesn't get that much use and was in good shape.
All in all, we were very pleased with our choice of rejuvenating, rather than replacing. There was some slight overspray of sealant in the guest bath, in the corner of the countertop, but it's hardly noticeable. The only real concern I had was the conflicting advice we were given as to whether we should pull the sinks before the process was started, as we were replacing the old sinks with new ones. As the plumber couldn't get to the sinks before the job was due to be started, we went ahead with the process. In hindsight, have your sinks pulled out before starting. Fortunately, I made Eduardo aware that we were going to replace the sinks, so he didn't apply the final caulking around the sinks and very carefully scored the caulk that was there, to make it easier for the plumber to pull out and replace the sinks. Our plumber was masterful and meticulous, in removing the sinks and dropping in the new ones. Everything matched out beautifully and when he applied the final caulk around the sinks, you couldn't tell they hadn't been pulled prior to the start of the project. If there had been some mismatch, Eduardo would have come back and repaired the area around the sinks.
The other caution I would give with this process, is the amount of and quot;stuffand quot; that gets into the air and floats around. Even though everything not undergoing this process is covered with plastic, masked and taped and all kinds of ventilation is used, as well as the doors being kept closed, we still found some clear and quot;productand quot; on the floors, mirrors, bathroom cabinets, door handles, and our wood floors in the master bedroom. The mirrors in both bathrooms cleaned with lots of scrubbing with a Teflon sponge and baking powder, so as not to scratch the surfaces, and lots of Windex. The floors, cabinets, and door handles don't look any different. It didn't change the color, but they're just not as smooth as they were prior to having this process done.
In spite of the couple of and quot;hiccupsand quot; we had, I'd do this again in a minute! The people were wonderful to work with; from Crystal in the office, Ryan doing the estimating and explaining, and Eduardo doing the actual job. Everything was cleaned up at night, they arrived on the right date and time and Eduardo is one of the hardest workers I've ever seen. He takes pride in his work and it shows. We have a 5 year guarantee on materials and workmanship and if taken care of properly (no harsh abrasives or bleach), there isn't any reason this process won't last 20-30 years! In our minds this was the right product for our bathroom remodels, and we couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. It looks fantastic!!
