Over the course of TWO years, I tried on and off to get them to replace it. I made several appointments, which they broke. Finally, two workers showed up. They weren't there to install the seal. The two workers were there to measure the door: the perimeter of the shower door. Yeah, the door they installed. They didn't trust my measurements. (Why they needed precise measurements for something that comes on a roll is a mystery.) And they didn't have the gasket in the work truck. It had to be "special ordered." The whole thing felt like B.S. Still, I wanted that shower door working properly, so I persevered.
More time went by. I contacted them again. Now, Kurt wanted photos of the old seal. I sent photos. The photos weren't good enough, he'd have to send someone to look at it in person. The gasket was free, then the gasket wasn't free. And after all this time, the seal still needed to be "special ordered" and that would take more time.
I finally gave up. I wrote to Kurt and told him I was done and that I didn't want their company back in my home. Ever. He wrote back saying that we must've had some sort of miscommunication and offered to come out and "look" at the seal himself. I was past laughing.
This is a seal for a shower door. I have to wonder why it's been such a struggle for a big company like City Glass to get a handle on it. The owner, David Schmitz, needs to know how his company is run.
I had company remove my old windows and install (10) new energy efficient vinyl windows.
Positives:
-great prices
-nice windows
-fast install
The only negatives I would have would be that when the installers showed up, they just walked into my house (I was in kitchen with a contractor) and didn't say a word to me, didn't introduce themselves or anything and just started taking out my windows in the dining room! My contractor and I looked at each other like what the heck? and I said "Hi window guys". Also, the other thing is that I had requested for all the stickers to be left on the windows so that I could remove them. I wanted them left on so that I could get the rebate through my local power company. It ended up where they threw (4) of them away. The owner did get them for me and it worked out.
The windows are nice and I would recommend the company. I just wish the installers were a bit more professional. Each time they were at my house they just walked in and didn't say a word and I think that is a bit odd.
"We apologize for them not being more communicative, as this is not our normal style. We have been in business for over 50 years and have a very good reputation in the industry.for quality service and workmanship. We will definitely review with our service technicians."
"[Member Name] story is not complete. We did not install the windows as she wanted to paint her house first. Since we had purchased the windows, and she did not have a specific time for painting, we said we need to be paid. Three years later the house still has not been painted. We have been in contact with her and indicated we will come out when ever she is ready. She acknowledged."
At the completion of the first day we noticed there was some minor damage, but nothing that could not be easily repaired by us. There were some nicks in a window sill and cracked sheetrock.
The rest of the windows, minus the one that was re-ordered, were replaced the following day. After that work was completed we found more structural damage which included broken window sills (that cannot be repaired) and a deep gouge to an area of sheetrock that extended to the wood casing. Outside we found a lot of broken glass and nails left by the installers. There are also 4 windows that are accessed via the roof. It appeared that no effort was made to remove any debris (other than the windows themselves) from this area.
We took photos which we presented to the company owner and his son (whom we have known for many years), their response was that all damage was "normal". While we did not expect to receive a discount, it is appalling that they showed no concern for the damage that was done to our home.
