It went very well, he did a great work. The price was reasonable.

The quality of work was horrible. Floor tiles were not laid in a straight line, and substantial 'lippage'. Shower tiles were not cut straight, some were touching, and some had gaps of up to 1/2", and substantial lippage. Seems on cement board in the shower were not taped and cement board was not waterproofed before tiles were laid. Owner had to remove all tiles and redo. Shower floor tiles were touching with no room for grout in some places. Shower floor did not slope to drain in two of the four corners. There were several other problems with the quality of work.

Great contractor! Balkan Construction came in with a very fair bid- first of all. Their quality of work, their attention to detail, and meeting the scheduled deadline for completion really impressed me. Even when they were elbow deep in concrete they were personable, and happy to answer any questions I had. I've gotten a lot of compliments on the sturdiness of the construction. 

I will definitely be calling on these folks for future projects.

I had very bad experiences with them.  He is classified as general contractor.  I hired him to do my remodeling of my kitchen.  He also had quite a few people who also work with him, he specifically just a general contractor.  He is not an electrician.  I told him that I wanted everything to code.  I explained to him very meticulously things that I wanted.  He said he would take my job and gave me a price.  I felt that it was very reasonable.  He came in and brought in a plumber.  He also had a gentleman who did the windows.  First of all let’s go with the windows.  I specifically needed the windows centered on the wall so that my new cabinets would fit there.  They put the window in and he said the windows are little on and I told him to fix it.  If he doesn’t then my cabinets would be little off with the windows.  I noticed that they were working on it.  When the cabinets were put in, the window was not centered.  It is like an half inch off on one side.  It was a messy work and not accurate.  He didn’t put insulation in and around the window.  There is a big gap and one can look out into the daylight through there. This was really when I started checking things and looking at things really closely.  He came in, he took plastic and blocked off all the doorways and the windows to the rest of the house.  He came in with a paint machine and painted.  He said he needed a part of the money and so I gave him a check as a part of the money.  About two days later, I went in there and with my glasses on.  I am elderly and a senior.  I saw that he didn’t clean out the windows where the saw dust was.  He blew that into the paint.  I called him and I called him and I called him.  I sent messages that I needed to talk to him.  I was not happy with what had happened.  He finally called me back and I started telling him all the issues, and this went into a big argument.  He just said he was not going to work on my house anymore and he walked away.  Then I found out he didn’t have any permit.  The county had to come out and asked who did and they told me he was not a qualified electrician.  This was before the cabinets went in. I had to pull all of the sheet work out.  The plumbing was wrong.  The electrical was wrong and I thought that I should have my money back and he wouldn’t give it back to me.  I did file grievance with the county here and this wasn’t too much for the county either.  I had to call them back and find out what they did to him in 6 months since I put the complaint.  They said not yet.  I don’t think they ever did anything to him.  But they were the one who told me, it was all wrong.  I just think that the buyer be aware on him.  In fact, he took the money that I paid to him and he and his wife went on vacation.  I will never use him.
