"Thank you for the report. I enjoyed talking with you about Alaska also."
Enter A Carpenter, aka Russell P. Parks! He was the ONLY contractor that got back to me right away, could take the job even though he was pretty swamped already, kept me updated on progress, DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB, showed up ON TIME......and.......sold me fresh home grown chicken eggs out of the back of his work truck! I'm just super impressed. This is how people should conduct their business. He has a motto: Good work needs no explanation. So very true!
My dad had built a cabinet in the garage that directly covered the electrical breaker box. Big no no. It was attached to other cabinets and had to be skillfully removed. I didn't want a hack job and that's why I called a professional carpenter. As stated above, Russell was the only carpenter to call me back, and I had put calls in to many. I was able to communicate to him what I needed done via email and photos. He showed up a few days later to remove the cabinet. After the electrician came to replace the breaker box, we then scheduled a time for him to come to do the finish work and make it look like that cabinet never even existed. All the way through the project Russell kept in contact and let me know what was going on. My job was a relatively small one, and he was able to fit me in between his other big jobs. I really appreciated that.
The finish work was just beautiful. He saved the trim pieces when he removed the cabinet and used them as new trim to finish off what was remaining. The wall was filled, taped and spackled perfectly. The paint matched perfectly. Everything was freaking perfect. I couldn't be happier. Really. Thank you Russell P. Parks! You deserve all future business you get! I love the eggs too!
I was bid a "not to exceed" rate for a very complicated carpentry trim job in our kitchen. Russell estimated it would take 40 hours and we agreed he would bill hourly, but not to exceed 40 hours. He ended up spending an extra two solid days on the project and never even hinted at being miffed at the extra unpaid work.. He delivered exactly what he said he would, even though it took almost a third more time than he'd anticipated.
Call Russell. He has a wide range of skills (used to be a captain of a salmon fishing vessel). Be warned however: I was "trapped" more than once by Russell, who had fascinating stories about Alaska and mountaineering while I should have been heading to work :-)
"Thank you for such a nice review, It was nice that you listened to my stories. I enjoyed the challenge of the project. Maybe we will run inot each other on Mt Rainier this year."
It went well. I learned more than I had thought I would learn.Overall a great experience.
"It was a pleasure for us to get to know this member over the "Lunch Hour" she served us every Friday during the project. It was a fun project. Thanks for your comments."
"It was a pleasure working on this project. I appreciate the positive comments. I will work on the areas mentioned in the report that the member listed needed improvements. I strive to be better at what I do. Thanks for the in put."
"This must be a mistake, I do not have that address or name in my records. I did not work in Snohomish in August. Please remove this report. If this member or Angie’s List has just made an error that is ok, but I wonder if someone is using my company information and working under my name. No projects are bid, started or finished without my involvement. No project can happen without my knowledge, no one but me can represent A Carpenter."
