Troy responded to call quickly and stopped by for an estimate that day. Estimate was competitive, and he was willing to start the next day. Job took slightly longer than he indicated, but there was much more involved than was originally expected. Very good communication (likes text messages) as job progressed with questions, etc. Good people to work with, professional. Would recommend.

Troy, the owner of Pacific Home Electric, and his workers were late by an hour on the first day, but I ignored it and they successfully installed a new 3 switch dimmer and were done. Note that the dimmer was just a little crooked when installed. However, the second project I asked them back for was rocky. They were an hour late again, citing bad traffic. They worked on the under cabinet lighting in the kitchen, but didn't install the final lights as I said I'd finish that part of the job once the cabinets were ordered and installed. When the cabinets arrived and I started to wire the lights in, a few weeks later, the power wasn't working. I called Troy and his company at least 4 times leaving messages about this, each time he never got back with me even after saying he would after I caught him on the phone one day. I emailed him many times, but was ignored. Finally I called another electrician ("As You Wish Electrical") and he said the wires were installed wrong and had to rework the entire system to get them to work. Troy and his Pacific Home Electric had a good price and Troy and his team are nice guys, but I wouldn't work with him again as after the experience I had.
Response from Pacific Home Electric
"First project was installing (2) 3-way switches, went fine. We run a service company. We tell our clients to give about an hour time frame for us to show up. If we plan on 8am, I will say between 8-9. We drive from Puyallup to north Seattle a lot, almost every day. As we did for this member. He was notably upset and voiced his opinion so about our arrival time. I just appologized as it is my policy to not argue with my clients at all. I run my business 100%. I do all the estimates, the phone calls, I anwser the emails, type up the bids, send them off, and do all the work out in the field. I have to make parts list, buy the parts, make sure the jobs done right, pull permits, call in inspections, fix any corrections, and trust me the list goes on. Among all that I have to make sure I'm to everyones house as close to on time as possible. Make no mistake, we dont like to waste peoples time. I was late due to traffic and being held up leaving an early morning bid. We work out of Puyallup and his job was in north Seattle. I have a huge list of references. If anyone would like a reference feel free to call. We were to install wires for undercabinet lights. We were told to only run wires an he would install the undercabinet lights himself. I try to discourage customers from doing this as they always manage to cross a wire or something gets messed up. This is the equivalant to hiring a mechanic to take apart an engine because you dont know how to do it, then telling him you will put it together yourself as you cant afford to pay him for that part. What do you think the mechanic will say when you put the car back together and it doesn't run and you want him to come fix it for free. I would be more than happy to have come out for a small trip fee. I'm sure the member was upset and tried fixing it himself just to finally go with someone else. There is always two parts to most jobs, as in the case of the member's. The first is "Rough-In", this is where we install the boxes and wires. Then sheetrock, mud, tape and paint come along. We then come back for the second trip, wich is called "Trim". This is where we install the final outlets, covers, lights, etc. When a customer wants to do the second portion himself, we are not responsible for their mistakes."

We are in the process of putting together a small hair salon and needed a licensed/bonded/insured electrician to be sure that the install of fixtures and wiring was to code requirements. After several months of planning and talking with numerous electricians on the phone, I found Troy, owner of Pacific Home Electric, to be by far, the best choice for the job. He was quite honest and up front about true costs of accessories, needing to do an on-site estimate for greatest pricing accuracy, and even went out of his way to tell me where to get my own fixtures to save even more money. Of the 5 licensed electricians I talked to, none of them would come and do a pre-estimate other than Troy at PHE. All others wanted to just schedule the appointment and gave me ballpark estimates of what the cost could be and left it open to "..depending on the situation when we see it." They showed up just a few minutes past the scheduled time due to GPS routing issues and this was quite understandable as I tend to live quite a ways away from their familiar territory. He and his journeyman got to work immediately upon arrival. They were well-prepared with a company van which seemed to be stocked with every conceivable item needed to tackle some of the odd on-demand requests I had made after the fact. This was amazing to me! The weather was exceptionally hot during the installation (102 degrees and no air conditioning!) but this didn't seem to faze them. They worked straight through the day, only stopping for 30 minutes to grab a quick lunch. At the end of the process, I made a last minute request to drop in an extra outlet and Troy even threw that in at no extra charge. So technically, the total came out lower than what the estimate would have been had I requested that up front. At the end of the day, Troy followed up with me again one last time to make sure that everything was well and that I was completely happy with the install, which I was. I've permanently affixed their business card to my wall next to the fuse panel and won't even need to think twice about calling them to do my next upcoming project or problem.
