The new PEX homerun system is very organized with shutoff valves easily accessible. Tracy is organized and a true craftsman in the plumbing trade I am so pleased with how well thought out the whole project went together. Tracy told us the job would take two days and it took two days, he told us he would start at 8am and he was here at 8am. Tracy is a one man company but for this job his daughter helped him, it was great to see a father and daughter working together and enjoying it.
He also repaired an old toilet and installed a separate new one. He was friendly and very professional. He charged the standard rate for a professional plumber. He did not charge for the time he spent getting parts for the various jobs he performed for us. The drain problem was really complex and Tracy handled it with skill and grace. We were extremely comfortable with him in our home.
This was my first experience with Angie's List and it was GREAT!
First off Tracy is and was excellent at communication. Both by email and phone and although he had several big projects ongoing prior to our call he gave us his schedule and made time for our small (but actually ended up not being quite as small as we thought) plumbing issue.
Tracy was over two times. The first visit was to assess and primarily to fix our shower that was continually leaking a lot of water we couldn't get to stop and to inspect our water heater. Even though the water heater was a side issue and a freebie, Tracy took his time to not only really inspect it, but to educate us on water heater deterioration so we would know what to expect as time goes by. Never suggested a repair to the water heater that wasn't needed, just gave it to us straight approximately how long they last, what exact condition ours was in and how he came to that conclusion and recommended steps if/when we have a repair issue in the future on the water heater. Awesome job!
On our shower/bathtub, we have an old house, prior to existing plumbing code so we have a 3 part shower unit. 1 knob is hot, another knob is cold, and the center knob is what switches between bath and shower. The middle and quot;stemand quot; was completely shot at least from our perspective so we were not using it, and just left it in shower mode. The main issue we had was that water would continually leak, no matter how tight we turned the knob and apparently was a washer issue. What made this repair annoying is that whoever installed the original plumbing slapped parts together and basically forced it together in a sloppy way that required more than just swapping out a part. Tracy took a lot of time to investigate, problem solve, and find the most pragmatic economical solution for us as we're not wealthy and our main concern was stopping a leak.
Tracy has such incredible integrity that while he was figuring out how best to proceed to fix the overall problem he literally told us he felt he took too long doing so and was not going to charge us for the actual time he spent on it. Not something you hear everyday from someone who makes their living based on the time they spend fixing something. We were very impressed. Due to the unfortunate complexity of the repair, parts needed etc. Tracy scheduled a return visit to finalize it. He did not even want to be paid for the time he already spent until he came back and finished!
So on his return visit he gave us 2 options. 1 was to address the leak, but not completely rebuild the unit and have a functional shower situation, but not necessarily 100% fixed at a lower price and the other was to completely rebuild the unit. He went into detail so that we understood what was involved on both options and we made a unanimous and informed decision to rebuild the unit. It was very fair on the pricing, especially given the reasons I already mentioned, and our shower works great (BETTER) than when we bought our home. Worth every penny and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting and spending time with Tracy.
When you are looking at all of the high rated plumbers in town don't ignore and quot;Smith Brothers Plumbingand quot; because there aren't as many reviews. Mind you all Smith Brothers Plumbing reviews at the time of this writing are all very positive I am referring to the actual number of reviews compared to some other larger operations in town is all. The point is from our family's experience Tracy and company will get the job done right and with fairness and integrity. Smith Brothers Plumbing is our go to plumber going forward!
A+++ Thank You Tracy from Kathy and Jeremy!
