Everyone at Quality Hardwood Floors did an excellent job. From Wendy in the main office, to Walt who came to give us an estimate and answer our questions, to Paul who lead the restoration/installation team, everyone was professional, efficient, and friendly. They did an amazing job matching the new floors to the existing 73-year-old original floors. We felt comfortable leaving town and leaving the job and our home in their hands. Our neighbor even commented about how hard-working the crew was. When they ran into an unforeseen issue, Paul called us immediately and talked us through to the proper decision. I would definitely hire Quality Hardwood Floors again and have already talked with friends about the wonderful job they did.

My 1st contact was with Wendy. She provided me w / lots of information then promptly scheduled an appointment to have Walt come out & give me a bid. After talking w/ Wendy & meeting Walt, I knew they were the company for me. I was put in the schedule to start the job & advised it would take 3 days. They were prompt and completed the job as expected. Paul was very quick to respond to my calls. I am very pleased w/ their work.

This was an awful experience. I am frankly stunned that these guys are still in business. I have never experienced customer service of this level previously. The installer, Paul, was outright disrespectful to my wife and I. He called me "argumentative". The lack of professionalism and lackluster attitude about the work they were doing was unparalleled. The first event was Paul recommending a stain that he "stocked" in his van. My wife declined and showed him what color we want the floors should be at the completion of this job. Starting from that moment, he became argumentative and disrespectful. The rest of the time and the quality of work had a hint of vindictive nature, almost bitter that his recommendation was declined. He offered us no assistance or guidance on how to achieve the color we wanted.  He said ". . . well you will just have to go to a pain supply store, find the color that you want and bring it to me. . . ". When we did this, first call from him went as follows ". . . this looks purple, i am not impressed at all I don't know what you want me to do with this. . ."  As the expert, I wanted his guidance. I would have expected him to understand what we are trying to achieve and give us recommendations on how to get there. Again this is his expertise. After they put the stain down my wife came and told me that the floors just do not look like how we anticipated them to look. I went and checked them out. I was stunned. The terrible quality of sanding job done was now evident. The color had no depth to it. He only put on 1 coat and was ready to put the sealant on.  I respectfully asked him to recuse himself from this job and went looking for help.  He wanted to get paid for the job he had done. I was willing to pay them cost of the material and putting down the floors in the large living room and the bedroom. But I declined to pay them for the sanding because I knew we would need to sand the floors down again. When I told them this, both Walt (the owner) and Paul (the installer) threw their hands up in the air and exclaimed ". . .we'll just put lien against your house and you will lose it all. . ."  Of note, I had two independent contractors/hardwood floor guys come and evaluate the quality of the work. Both of them thought this was a DIY gone awry.  The second guy asked me straight out " was it Quality Hardwood?" suggesting that they are known for this poor quality of work among hardwood flooring professionals . Lastly, the same guy said " just know that they will sue you. they do that all the time. so get yourself a good lawyer".  It seems a wise recommendation. In summary: - Very bad experience - Poor customer service, the likes of which i had not experienced before - Outright disrespectful (almost to level of name calling) - Lacking professionalism and tact - Must go with their stock stain that they have in their van and if you don't you are in for a punishment - Note that they will in all likely hood refute this entire thing right her on Angie's list and will declare that they have done absolutely nothing wrong (similar to their earlier response to another persons post) - If you do higher them then I wish you good luck. And make sure that right from the beginning you are explicit in what you want and ask whether or not they can reach there or not.

"[Removed Member Name], I have read your posts on BBB, Yelp and Angies List. We installed, sanded and finished #1 common hardwood flooring in your living, bedroom and office and refinished the kitchen and hallways over a 4 day period. I spoke with [Removed Member Name] and received compliments on how well the floors were laid on the Thursday before final last two coats of finish were applied, this was after the stain coat had been applied. We received on the Thursday evening on the answering machine to stop work. We called you the very next morning. No attempt to ask us to resolve issues. We did take pictures of your flooring when we checked to see if it was dry, it had no blotchy areas. The craftsman showed you several stains and when none of them was exactly what you wanted, we did send you to see Sherwin Williams to custom match a stain that you desired. Before we applied the coat of finish, we showed you in a 2' by 4' area in a sunlite area for your approval of the stain, as not all stains look the same on different species of wood. Once the stain was approved, we applied the stain to your complete flooring. The areas of concern such as replacing the base, and any other imperfections, this would have been taken care of before the final coats had been completed. However we were not allowed to finish the job that had been started. We did however, receive(2) phone calls that stated (2) coats of finish were needed to finish up a job by phone callers for your location on both Friday and Monday. I understand that you did change you mind about the color and had another flooring company resand the flooring and apply a different color of mahogany. Finally, we appreciate any feedback our customers give us and are happy that your floors are complete. We strive to keep our customer service always improved, that is why we have been in business since 1953."

This was completed over 9 years ago, our motto has always been to re apply another coat of finish if we had made a mistake, work is guaranteed for a year. I see that the bill was paid within the same month as the work occurred. Please accept our sincere apology."

They worked well and this is just someone being extremely picky, there were places where the floor that they did is a dark wood and I have a very light wood in the kitchen. They didn't stop right on the line so I have smears and dark staining on the light. They are not huge, but they are there. It took a while to do it. It involved about 3 days because they sanded and they had to put stuff on it. They came in and put another coat or buffed it. They were really pretty easy to work with considering that part is the main part of the house so it's crowded. They were timely and they were fine. It is just that I clean and things I found, like little smudges, and there was a difference there and I wish he had caught it and wiped it when he could. That's from someone super picky. If I were in a big custom expensive home, I'd probably be very upset. In many ways, they did a good job. I just thought it didn't hold up like I expected when we spent the money, and subsequently I am sort of that way about the floor. They did a good job. They sealed rooms off and I think they did fine there. With regards to punctuality, they did well. They should be a little more particular when they were doing the staining and finishing. I don't think they are really restaining. It was just that the finish they put on had color in it, and they weren't careful when they hit the light colored wood. They should be attentive to fine detail.

"Thank you for the review. Your home was a uniquely beautiful one, in June of 2002 we installed random length select grade white oak hardwood flooring in widths of 3", 5" & 7". We feathered into existing hardwoods and drilled dowels into the floor to give it an old world style. Beautiful! We again came back to do a clean and recoat in 2013, giving your floors 5-7 years of maintenance free wear. We appreciate the feed back and continue to take our customers input and utilize it to become better."

When I hired Quality Hardwood Floors to refinish and place new hardwood floors, I expected quality work. However, their completed work was poor quality. In the end, it's more than just having a shiny floor. They left without completely finishing the job. They left the carpet torn up in the doorway of two bedroom rooms and the molding was not replaced in the rooms they installed hardwood. They lifted the carpet in the doorways and removed the moldings where the new hardwood was placed. They told me that I would have to call a carpet person to get the carpet re-tacked down in the doorways. I had to call them back to replace the molding and they charged me an additional $50 to replace the molding. I was give an estimate to remove the carpet ($250) which I did myself; then, when I called them back to get the molding replaced they said that was part of the carpet removal estimate; the estimate clearing stated $250 for removing the carpet and didn't state anything about molding. I asked them if they would refinish behind and under the refrigerator and they said they didn't do that. Once they arrived to do the work than they told me it would be another $800 if I wanted the new hardwood floor feathered in with the old floor (so it wouldn't have a straight edge look). I assumed that was part of the original estimate since it was never discussed with me when I was given the original estimate. When I was given the estimate, I was told that I wouldn't be able to tell that the new floor was added. To help with the look they did place a piece of walnut wood between the new floor and old floor but charged me another $40. While the floor turned out nice, I would not have them do my floors again because I feel they had poor quality of work and it cost more money to complete the work. I assumed the estimate was for quality work and I would not incur extra costs to get the work completed. If they give you an estimate you would need to question them about everything; for myself, I didn't even know what questions to ask and they didn't explain anything to me before the job got started.

"In August, we installed select white oak hardwood floors and refinished water damaged flooring. The hardwood flooring turned out beautiful. With our recent awards for Best of Spokane for the past 3 years (2012, 2013, 2014), we take our work and attention to our customers seriously. As our craftsmen take great pride in the work we perform, there are some things we leave to others and are fully described in a letter each customer receives before the work is performed such as plumbing (toilets and refrigerators) and re-stretching of carpets. When the refinishing of hardwood is required in a kitchen, options of removing and replacing appliances are always available. We do recommend however that appliances stay in place to avoid compression of the wood or scratches of the newly refinished hardwood flooring. Since many customers may not have the expertise in replacing appliances after the required cure time. When we had a follow-up conversation, quite a bit of colorful language was used after an explanation that the extra trip would be needed for the crew to replace the base work once the floors were dry. The original estimate was the same, with credit given for the prep work (done partially by customer) and option of walnut strip for delineation of new addition of hardwood. Some of our customers chose to remove the prep work to save on finances, which we can understand. As read in the testimonial, it was also stated, "The floors turned out nice". We are a family owned company since 1953, warranty our work, and train our craftsmen in the "Old World Craftsmanship" so our customers can enjoy many years of beautiful hardwood flooring in the future."

"Thank you for your kind words and hoping you are enjoying your beautiful hardwood floors. Countless customers have exclaimed how beautiful their hardwood flooring can be even after several years under carpet or darkening with age. I remember one customer that had 5 children roller skating on their hardwood flooring previously thinking they would never look new again. Hardwood flooring, if solid can be sanded and refinished up to 11 times if done properly...giving generations of quality use. After being in business since 1953 and training in the "Old World Craftsman" trade, we are on our 4th generation of family craftsmen, we look forward in the next decade to refinish them again when you are ready."

Smooth transaction start to finish. I chose Quality Hardwood Floors by reading reviews on Angie's List. They are professional from the job estimate to the final finish. I was cautioned from the beginning about things not to do so as to protect the floor throughout the process. Even though the work was done upstairs, they were concerned about raising dust on the main floor. Forced air heat can carry dust that will find it's way into the polyurethane. To be on the safe side we left the house vacant for one day. When we returned we found a beautiful floor without blemishes. Our floors were actually not hardwood but rather fir planking dating to the 1950's. Though not hardwood they are still beautiful with the new finish.

I was nervous about having hardwood floors and I highly complement this companys customer service - the women who answer the phones. They were so easy to talk to, answered all my questions, and reassured me that I would love my new floors. Boy were they right.
The men arrived on time and immediately started their work. When we saw how beautiful the floor was under the carpeting, we amended the order to also remove carpet in an and quot;Land quot; shaped hallway and refinish the hardwood floor underneath. The floors are absolutely gorgeous and much less expensive than I thought it would be. I would not hesitate to hire this company again should we decide to remove the carpeting in our living room. I LOVE THE HARDWOOD FLOORS!!! This company is AWESOME!!!
