Seamless Metal Gutters - Install
$3,375
We called McVay Brothers because they were the biggest local name in Spokane for Windows, siding, and gutters. Quote came in at $3250 including tax. The crew showed up late on the date of installation, not one single gutter was installed correctly, 4 out of 5 gutters were installed with the gutter sloped away from the downspout and held anywhere from 1/4" to 1/2" of water in them, after 3 phone calls and a week later the repair crew showed up and got the gutters to flow correctly but they look like hell! My neighbor had the same amount of gutters installed for about 1/2 the price of McVay and they were installed correctly the first time, McVay did not care that this was all new construction, they did not offer any sort of a discount even though they punched over 120 holes in my brand new facia boards and did not seem to care at all about any damage they may have done to my house. The final bill showed up and it was $3375.00, 1 $125 more than quoted, BEWARE!!!!!!!!!

The customer service and attention to detail were great and very much appreciated. Keith and Kevin are a seasoned team that knows exactly what to do. I was pleased with the work as well as Keith and Kevin's customer friendly attitude. McVay Brothers is very fortunate to have employees of this high caliber representing the company. Thank you!!

Pretty good, at first. It wasn't until the job was "completed" that we discovered the job had been botched. McVay Bros. apparently SUBBED OUT the shingle part to another roofer and that roofer used the incorrect size of flashing where the roof edge and gutters meet. This left us with significant areas where water from the roof flows freely between the edge of the roof and gutters. An employee from McVay Brothers stopped by to look at the job and asked, "did WE do that?" I gave him the name of the roofer and he knew who I was referring to, but it seems as though the roofer in question is sort of a freelancer and not "technically" a McVay Brothers employee. There were other issues that were minor in comparison like filling the gutters full of junk and leaving a old metal vent for us to dispose of. Also, as one might expect from such a job, there were a few nails, staples, pieces of roofing materials and bits of packaging scattered around the yard. Again, I realize they're not going to get it all, but you would think that for the $34000 price tag, they could have at least cleaned out the gutters when they were done. Today marks 2 weeks since we first called them to report the problem. We have not heard anything from McVay Brothers about how they intend to provide us with a functioning roof.

The installer was having family problems (seriously ill kid) and postponed a couple of times. When he was finally able to get here, the project went fast. My old house is difficult to work on, but he mastered all the tricky problems, working through snow and cold, and produced a solid result in about 5 hours.

I appreciated the prompt and courteous service, especially considering how busy all the local roofing companies have been repairing damage from the November windstorm. Our kitchen skylight started leaking, and they sent someone out to take a look within three hours of my call. The employee was very professional and courteous. Upon inspection, he was unable to locate the source of the leak because everything appeared in good repair. He applied a bead of silicone and said he hoped that would stop the leak. It didn't, at all. In fact, the leak continued to worsen. Later that day, McVay brother's called to get my credit card number. Their employee didn't bill me at the time of service because he was unsure what the charge would be. They charged $150.00, which seems pretty steep for such a quick service call that did nothing to address the problem. The woman I spoke with on the phone was very polite and apologetic when I explained why I felt the charge was too high, however, nothing was done to amend the bill. Despite the friendly service, I will not be a repeat customer.

Response from McVay Brothers Siding & Windows
"Mr. [Member Name Removed]: I will have a member of our customer service team refund you for the service charge. We do not normally perform service on products we did not install. Thank you. McVay Brothers"

We were extremely pleased. Mark visited our home to write up the quotes. The quotes were professionally issued on forms standardized for each type of work and included all of the details to ensure that we had all of the information and also so that the order could be entered just as we had discussed. Communication was very good. When schedules shifted by a day or two we were advised or asked if that would be acceptable to us. Workers on site were pleasant and courteous and clean up was well done. We would definitely recommend McVay to others and hire them again for future needs.

From start to finish, our experience with McVay Brothers was A+++. Everyone we were in contact with was personable, polite, timely, highly skilled and an absolute pleasure. Our salesperson was knowledgeable and instilled a great deal of confidence, the job coordinator kept us informed every step of the way and the installers possessed amazing skill. Even though several days were cold and rainy, the job went on and was finished sooner than we had anticipated. The scope of work was clearly communicated at all levels, ensuring the entire contract was completed to the last detail. Our satisfaction mattered to everyone and we are entirely happy with the end result. We recommend Mc Vay Brothers without reservation.

Everything was good. They took care of the minor issues they had right away, and the accounting department waited until everything was done before they asked for any money, which was comforting.

Contacted 9 local contractors, 4 came out to do bids but only one actually gave us a bid. None wanted to do the work that late in the Fall. McVays gave a prompt bid, and they did quality work in a timely fashion. Their guarantee on siding and windows that was transferable to new owners made their slightly price seem well worth it. They were extremely fast and professional and stood behind their work.

toWe got an estimate for this job about the third week of August 2013, and it was very competitive. The estimator was courteous and helpful. Unfortunately, he failed to reckon with a needed step. That in turn delayed both the start and completion of the job. The estimator did advise us it would be several weeks, maybe late October or mid November, before the work could be done.
Our roof has a fairly long front and rear overhang, with angled fascia boards at the roof edges. The covered-gutter replacements we ordered required that the fascia boards be removed, painted to match our home's trim and then be remounted before new gutters were installed. That apparently wasn't on the work order. So, when the installation workers arrived they did some preliminary things but said they would have to take the fascia boards to their shop for painting, and would have to reschedule completion of our gutter installation. That added about three weeks to getting it done.
By the time the gutters were being installed the weather was cold and breezy, and the days short. The workers got most of the work done over a couple of days, but then on a Friday said they might or might not return the next day, and that they had other jobs scheduled. I pointed out that we had already had our job delayed through no fault of ours, and that I thought it fair to finish our job before they startied another. The installer shrugged, nodded and said to let him see what he could do. I was glad to see the workers return the following day to finish the job.
As best I can tell the installation was done very well. The gutters appear straight, securely fastened and were not marred during instalation. I've not seen leaks or other problems. The job cleanup could've been better, but given that most of it was done in poor light at the end of a cold, short November day, I understand how and why some bits (including sharp screws and metal pieces) were overlooked.
As a postscript, in the past we had McVay Brothers replace all but a couple of our windows. The work crew was like a precision drill team. They did a great job, about as quickly and neatly as it could possibly be done. Later on, we had McVay replace our back door and its storm door. Again, the company did an outstanding job.
In writing this review for gutter installation, timing, weather, season and uncertainty took a slight edge off what would otherwise have been an equally excellent experience. So consider this an A instead of A-plus, and realize we would be willing to have McVay install gutters again, if we needed that. But next time, I would have the work done much earlier in the year.

The guys were always on time, kept me apprised every step of the way. They kept my yard clear of debris. They were professional at all time and really a joy to be around. If I ever need additional work done I will not hesitate to use McVey Brothers again and ask to have Shane lead the team!

Very well, They were responsive to questions, worked hard and fast (even though it was a big enough project it took several weeks) and the outcome is fantastic. Already people have walked by our home and commented on it.
We got multiple bids. Because it was steel siding instead of vinyl and the workers are top notch--this was the costly option. One of the close competitors called back and we said we were going with McVay Brothers and they said that they do fine work but probably you were going to pay a couple of thousand more. That proved to be true. This is the high price option but I am very impressed with their product and work.

Great. These jobs were completed over a couple of years. First I had the 1st floor windows replaced (2005), then the siding, basement windows, and the gutters completed(2007) and finally the roof replaced(2010)
