The two workers were great. That is, what they were able to do was done very well. The problem was that I purchased all the fixtures on line, and when we opened boxes it turned out that the company from which I bought the chandelier that was supposed to be hung over my kitchen/family room table turned out to be a lamp rather than a chandelier. The style was correct -- a white upside down artichoke design -- but I had been charged for a chandelier and they sent me a table lamp! When we opened the box that was supposed to contain a chandelier with rectangular pieces of Capiz (shells) hanging from a chrome square. Unfortunately, all the pieces of the chandelier were missing except for the chrome square with the Capiz shells hanging from it. There was no rod from which to hang the square; there was no actual light fixture, nothing to attach it to the ceiling, etc., etc. All the pieces of the wall sconce were actually there, but the crystal that is supposed to hang from the bottom was just glued on and had fallen off. Finally, the metal cage that is supposed to encircle the blades on the fan was missing. Of course, none of these problems were the fault of the workers. It was just my own incredibly back luck. In fact, the situation was so ridiculous, i.e., three out of four fixtures were worthless and one had to be glued together, that the three of us just had to laugh, even though I was taken to the cleaners by the companies from which I had purchased the fan and the light fixtures.
Consequently, I did not get the two chandeliers installed, but I did have the fan installed even without the missing cage. I paid the full $600 to Mr. Farley's company, but I was assured by Mr. Farley's electrician that he would come back and complete the job once I got new fixtures with all the appropriate parts. I would definitely use Joe Farley Construction again, but I'll probably never order from the companies from which I purchased the fan or the two chandeliers.
Joe did exactly what he said he would, did the work quickly, and the patio now looks so good it almost puts the rest of the yard to shame. We had some other people look and they wanted to change everything. So, Joe was very reasonable and easy to work with.
Of course my first call was to the major department store where I've purchased and have had service almost all my products for the last two decades. I also called several local business that serviced those two items too. I got the same treatment from both. Neither of them seemed to understand that I was injured, and needed accommodation, I could not go get part and model numbers, or take measurements. Each wanted to charge me for a repair visit first and if the repair couldn't be done I had to buy a new item, have it delivered and then reschedule for the installation. A big waste of time and money, would have taken weeks.
Desperate for help and accommodation of some kind I went to the web and found a local website called Service Magic that advertised repair service in my area. I typed up a very frustrated and vague request for help. To be honest I didn't expect much but I highlighted my specific needs and asked only those whom could accommodate me to respond.
I received a call within an hour or from Joe of Joe Farley Construction. I explained my situation and we made an appointment for the next day, a Saturday. Joe was professional, very polite and understanding of my frustrations. While he fixed the garbage disposal, I picked out a dishwasher from Lowe's online. He verified it was in stock and that it came with everything necessary, then he was off to get it. Within two hours he was back from Lowe's and the new dishwasher and old disposal were working perfectly, and everything was cleaned up. He even took away the old dishwasher for me. Now that's service!!
I'm know I paid way less then anyone else would have charged me. I'm extremely happy with the service! I'm positive I will use Joe's services in the future.
I didn't realize I would be asked I what was charged but just to be clear that price included my new dishwasher, and I didn't pick a cheap one!
Would I refer him to other people? Absolutely! Just be sure to meet his sidekick Julius...
