Great! They were able to squeeze my job in quickly. Very precise so that no damage to surrounding trees and shrubs. It is exactly what I wanted done.

Although we are satisfied with the performance overall, one aspect of the job was unsatisfactory.  A few months before this project we had Avista pipe in natural gas to our house from the street.  Their performance was exemplary.  We have a gravel driveway that slopes down to the house from the street.  Avista excavated a ditch for the gas pipe down our driveway.  When they finished, they brought in a dumptruck of pea gravel and spread it on the driveway and left it in better shape than it was before -- perfectly smooth and compacted.
When H & R finished, they didn't even smooth out the driveway and did not leave the pea gravel top in place.  They simply pushed the excavated dirt back over their ditch and did a very poor job of leveling it off.  When asked about finishing it properly, they advised that it would cost another $300-400 to bring in pea gravel and smooth out the driveway.  I think that that should have been included in the total price of the project.  It was a very simple connection compared to most in this neighborhood and I'm sure the profit margin was considerable in light of the limited hours involved.
As a result of the manner in which they left our driveway, we have ruts and mud when it rains.

We have an enclosed backyard, and they were not able to dig up the ground for the sewer line.  They had to start from our laundry room, which is a very tight space, and pound the sewer line through the ground all the way out to the alley.  It was a lot of work.  It was dirty and hot.  They did an excellent job.  They were punctual.  They got the job done within two days.  It was amazing.
