An estimate was given to mitigate the radon for a house I had bought while it was in escrow. I wanted to wait until I moved into the house to determine where the pipe was going to be placed. After I got to Spokane, I called the company. The owner came out and complained about problems with the house and that it was going to be difficult to place the pipe in the right place. He said that his brother had given the estimate, who was no longer with the company. He described the service that was to be provided and that the crawl space would need to have plastic glued to the walls. I explained that my Mother, who has COPD was visiting that afternoon for a week. He said that they would perform all the services, except gluing the plastic, until after she had left, because the fumes might bother her. I agreed that I would call them to set up an appointment to finish the job. After she left, I called and set up an appointment. No one showed. I called again and was told someone would call me back. No one did. I called a third time and was told the job was finished and they didn't need to come out. I asked for the owner to call me to explain this new development. He left a very curt message saying that the job couldn't be glued because the crawl space was on an incline and that it should be fine and that another radon test should be performed and if it was within the acceptable amount that he didn't need to do anything else. I assumed he would perform the test. I was called about a month later and was accused of not paying the bill. I told the front office person that the radon test had not been performed. She said the owner would call me back. When the owner called, he said he had only 90 days to file a lien against me, which didn't make any sense. I told him until the test was performed and we knew the radon mitigation system was working, I didn't want to pay the bill. He said that he had sent a kit. I had not received a kit. When I did receive the kit, I followed the instructions and sent it back. During this time, he sent a letter stating that he would wait for the results and if everything was in the acceptable range that I needed to write a check. On Christmas Eve, I receive a call from him saying that he had not received a check in the mail that day. I didn't know what he was talking about and said that I hadn't had any correspondence from him since the letter nor had I received the test results.
He left the test results, which he had received, taped to the doors of my house on Christmas Eve while I was gone to the airport to pick up my guests for the Christmas holiday. The whole incident was very creepy and worried me a little about what he would do.
When I got the results and saw that the test was within the range, I sent a check to him.
I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone! I think he and his company is very disorganized and lacks communication skills.
