MITCHELL CABINETS

Mitchell's Cabinets is a small operation located south of Tacoma in the area known as Spanaway. His shop is a large two car garage space and when toured, looks like a real cabinet shop. We ordered the cabinets and expected they would be built there. The cabinets were very good quality when delivered. Mr. Mitchell's installation was quick and efficient. One cabinet had to be altered due to a measuring error and this was done with a week delay, still acceptable when one considers the work in altering a cabinet. So with the product, we are pleased. However, it appears Mr. Mitchell does not build custom cabinets. He told us the drawers were made by someone else, the front panels for all the cabinets were made at another location, and the finishing was done by an outside party. It appears some shelves were built by Mr. Mitchell in the accessory cabinets and that's about it. To be fair, it appears this is common in the trade as another vendor told us, up front, that they sent out the boxes and only built the cabinet fronts and they were more than twice as expensive as Mr. Mitchell. The lesson here is to ask your vendor where will the cabinets be built, even if you are standing in what looks like a cabinet shop. If you are OK with a product built by another yet represented to be a custom cabinet by your provider, use Mr. Mitchell. His out sourcing uses very good people, but they are not custom cabinets built by Mitchell's Cabinets.
