Lance Harvey Trucking & Excavating also builds homes. They built my new home. We had a few warranty type issues such as the door bell not working properly, and a backyard that does not drain due to incorrect grading of the lot. It turns out that the drainage system that the engineer designed for this lot was never installed. Why wasn't it installed? The builded asked the city inspector if they could skip it. The inspector said "Sure." So when we bought the home everything looked great. After we go in we notcied the drainage issues and discovered that the inspector overruled the engineer's design (something that he absolutely does NOT have the power to do). Permits for another property on the same lot was put on hold by the city until the drainage system was put in.Lance Harvey put in the drainage system that should've been there all along. Had it been in place as it is now, we would NOT have purchased this home. We now have a sump pump in our crawl space and gravel everywhere. Where there isn't gravel there are large iron grates. Did I mention our backyard still doesn't drain due to the fact that the grading is backwards (slopes towards the house)?We have now been in our home for 6 months and the doorbell still doesn't work and the yard still doesn't drain. Lance Harvey refuses to honor the warranty and in fact won't even acknowledge our existance. We have retained a lawyer and are going to do the repairs ourselves and force Lance to pay for it through the court system. In short: Lance Harvey refuses to honor the builders warranty and refuses all attempts at communication. UPDATE: We are now proceeding with sueing Lance Harvey Trucking and Excavating for a little less that $10k (before legal expenses which we are also pursuing). Lance refuses to do warranty work for us or our neighbors (whose homes he also built). He refuses communication, sends unlicensed contractors to perform work (which just makes things worse). Nearly a year into our new home and he still refuses to correctly install a $10 doorbell. He claims we want 'chimes' but all we want is the two note (Ding-D***) that the manufacturer of the doorbell says we should have. We've put a LOT of our own money into fixing things that he refuses to fix. After talking to inspectors with The City it has become apparent that Lance bribed or cajoled the inspectors into letting them build on this land without installing ANY drainage system. The drainage system as designed by the engineer was skipped entirely. When asked why this was allowed to happen the city inspector revealed that he knew the drainage system as designed was inadequate, so when he was asked if they could skip it entirely he said "OK". Meaning he knew it wouldn't work at all and that there would be problems but "hey, it's all OK, right? I mean they asked nice". The good ole boy club runs rampant around Lance Harvey. AVOID LANCE HARVEY TRUCKING AND EXCAVATING AT ALL COSTS. DO NOT BUY A HOME FROM THESE SCAM ARTISTS.
