Though he had to reschedule once, he showed up at the agreed upon time, was easy to get in touch with (I was able to text him photos of the existing steps prior to his visit), and appeared to spend his time efficiently. He came to measure, then left to buy lumber at Home Depot. Approximately half the cost was lumber. He came back and began demolition, cut the stringers and placed them on concrete bricks to keep the wood off the ground, then finished by nailing the remaining planks in place. He cleaned up after himself and disposed of the rotten wood using his truck. Nothing went unexpectedly other than the price of lumber being higher than he had estimated. I am comfortable with the price paid for work received.
