Encore Custom Theater

I was looking for someone to help me transform an 18'x12' space in our lower living floor in to a small home theater for a while when I was fortunate to find Adam. I was really hoping to take advantage of real home theater equipment with a dedicated receiver and speakers instead of having to settle for a sound bar yet again. To say that Adam was the perfect find in my quest for this project would be an understatement! From our first meeting where he swung by for a walkthrough of my space and I had the opportunity to first describe my end goal I knew he was who I wanted to work with. His undivided attention to my vision and patience answering all my questions peppered with critical advice wherever needed was exactly what I needed. I decided to proceed with hiring him for my project after our initial sync. Right from the beginning he was very cognizant of my budget and needs and did a fantastic job helping me choose just the right equipment I'd need to truly get the most out of my investment. The amount of time and effort he invested in addressing all my questions/concerns and helping me narrow down things to the best components for the space and my price range is something I will always really appreciate. We went over a few quotes and settled on the final setup after which we collaborated on purchasing the equipment(some of the components I purchased directly, while the rest he procured for me from his distributors). Adam kept me posted at every step of the way from ordering through delivery of the necessary equipment until we finally scheduled the install date once we had all the equipment delivered. On the install date, Adam arrived promptly, and set out to work tirelessly until the entire room was wired up, equipment installed and perfectly callibrated and my mind blown with the final result. He did a fantastic job of running the required speaker wire under the baseboards and mounting the equipment(including an 83" panel) cleanly, and then calibrating the entire system for the space. Additionally I'd requested some help with lighting in a few spaces. Even though the overall work went over by a few hours compared to what was originally quoted(which is perfectly reasonable for the quality of work performed), and for which I'd have gladly paid him for his efforts, Adam only charged me for the hours that he'd originally quoted me. That type of integrity is just rare to come across! His work ethic, attention to detail and honesty is inspiring and I'd recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone that has similar needs for a project.

Very well. Adam was punctual, professional, approachable, and detail oriented. We even had a challenge arise due to builder running cables in location not appropriate for speaker installation. Adam corrected and spoke to builder on our behalf to explain. As a result, builder repaired ceiling drywall cuts required for proper speaker placement. This could have been costly for us and we're not sure if builder would have resolved if it weren't for Adam speaking to them.

Adam was great to work with. In his initial visit, to give us an estimate, he clearly explained what he would need to do as far as running the necessary wires through my fireplace in order to hook up a flat screen TV. At the time, I had not purchased a TV, wall mount, or Blu-ray player. As a former sales manager in the retail stereo industry, Adam was very informative in terms of the kinds of TVs, wall mounts and Blu-ray players he would recommend. I had done some research prior to his visit and his recommendations were almost exactly aligned with the kind of equipment I wanted to purchase, so that was reassuring. He definitely knew his stuff.
After I ordered the equipment, I arranged for Adam to do the entire installation. He and his assistant did a great job and I am very happy with the results. Adam arrived on time, eagerly went to work, did a very neat installation, and thoroughly cleaned up after he was done. I had priced out similar services at some of the more well-known retailers. Some were in the same ballpark, some were quite a bit higher, but none gave me the confidence that they would do the work properly and within budget. Adam's final charge was actually lower than his initial quote because he finished sooner than he expected. I appreciated this gesture. Not sure that I would have received the same consideration from one of the big retailers, but it is one of the reasons why I like to support small businesses. In my experience, they try just a little bit harder to make sure that the customer is happy with the end result.

Adam and crew were very efficient, quick, on time, fair priced, friendly, and knowledgeable. After years of messing with various providers, very happy to have found them.

They were the most knowledgeable of all that I interviewed. They give you all of the information needed to make a decision without trying to up sell. Very friendly and easy to work with. Took the extra time to address all of our concerns and questions. They even knocked off $500 from the original quote because they finished early. Very clean and tidy, I didn't see any dust from the speaker holes they had to cut out. Very trustworthy. I recommend them to anyone needing Audio/Visual work done.

I contacted Adam of Encore Custom Theater after my remodel contractor would not return my calls about an incorrect cable installation.  I will admit that I was frustrated and was not in the best of moods when Adam returned my call. Adam was a ray of sunshine in what has been a very stormy 6 months!  If there were a rating for "above-and-beyond A+" I  absolutely would.  His professionalism was outstanding.  The day of the scheduled appointment he called ahead and asked if he could come early.  Yes-early!!  He arrived with all the tools & supplies needed to complete and job and was in and out within an hour and a half.  Prompt and efficient.  I would hire him again in a heart beat.  If you are looking for a true professional look no further.  He is your man.

It went great; Adam is one of those rare finds that shows up on time, does exactly what he said he was going to do, and cleans up after he's done; Very personable and takes the time to explain what is being done and answer any questions that I had; I would very strongly recommend him to anyone considering a surround sound system or who needs their existing system modified or to hide the wires in the wall;

Adam called and asked if they could arrive early since they had completed a job sooner than expected.  After arriving, they got immediately to work.  Work was performed neatly and quickly without drama.  I would definitely use them again.

Adam and Joel arrived at my house on time and immediately got to work. In the family room, it was discovered that the power outlet on the wall would force the flat screen TV to either be too high or too low. NOTE: Do not install and outlet directly behind the center of where you want your TV to be hung.
Adam made a phone call and found a different bracket that would allow the TV to hang where we wanted it. He was understanding of the situation and immediately left to go pick up the new bracket. When they came back, they got back to work.
In the end, they did a flawless and clean job - fishing the wires without any damage to the walls or mess on the floor.
We are very pleased and plan to use Encore again to install speakers outside.

They did an excellent job in routing the wires and being able to hide them within the wall.  When they were finished, they showed me how to use it.  They cleaned up after themselves when they were finished with all the drilling and work.

Adam from Encore Custom Theater almost immediately responded to my Angie's List request- and we setup a time for the next day for him to come out and evaluate the project.  Because we were in the middle of remodeling- we were able to pretty much do whatever was needed to set up an ideal family room TV area.
!While at our home, I talked to Adam about the quality we were looking for and how ease of use was one of the highest priorities.  He helped us determine the best place to locate a media cabinet and provided dimensions for the contractor to build it out.  He explained every step along the way to me- such as how they would run the cabling from the TV area to this cabinet, how we would need to avoid any interference, and how we would future proof the system so that for the next few years, even as technology changes, our setup wouldn't need to!  He explained the best way to handle the built in speaker system- recommending that we change the location of them, remove the ones from our breakfast nook area, and explained the best way to handle a center speaker.  He also recommended an in wall sub woofer system that saved me from having to have a large piece of equipment in the room!
Later that night, Adam sent over a complete quote including all recommended equipment.  His labor pricing was extremely affordable- and included both him and his helper Joel.  I checked all his recommended equipment online, and all his pricing was exactly what is available if you were to buy it yourself (yet with the added advantage that he would just pick it up and have it ready to go!!).  My husband is a bit of an electronics snob and he totally approved Adam's list without any question. It was all solid equipment- and not the most expensive which was truly appreciated!
When it came time to do the work- Adam and Joel worked quickly- and communicated through out the time here about both advantages they were finding and problems they were running up against.  They let me know how they ran the lines, and how they would handle future changes if we found ourselves wanting to make any.  They also brought the mounting bracket with them so we could be sure to use it as we finished drywalling the area.  They made recommendations for improvements to our existing speakers- which we went ahead and upgraded.
Then they came back when the house was ready to go, mounted the TV, plugged in all the equipment, programmed the remote, and tested everything out in multiple ways to make sure it all worked.  My husband was home at this point- and talked with Adam a bit and was absolutely impressed with both his knowledge and his approach for handling things.  He's always been a pessimistic with outsourcing these sorts of things- but after meeting Adam- he asked that we also get a quote for some work needed in our basement! That to me was a huge compliment!!
I would recommend Adam to anyone who is looking to have a solid home TV or theater system. You know when Adam comes in that he'll work with you to find the right solution and isn't necessarily just a high end theater guy.

They are a very good company. We would use them again. We like their service and they were really helpful. We would use them again in the future if needed.

They did a good job. They worked with a contractor that we had with coordinating the installation of the system. They did the wiring of all of the system as well. The wiring was in and out of the walls and they installed an exhaust system. The job was very complicated and they said they had never done anything like what we needed but they definitely met the challenge and did a good job. They had never seen anything like the setup that we had as it is different and is nothing you can find in a catalogue. I have used them since that time for the same system.

Before performing the service, Adam came over for a consultation and then put together an estimate in less than a day.  He was punctual, professional, and more than willing to work within my budget while providing me with exactly the kind of home theater system I wanted.  As this install was part of a renovation he worked with our contractor to coordinate schedules to ensure he made it out to do his prep work while walls were exposed.  
As more evidence of Adam's professionalism and integrity, he could have easily up-sold me on a cooling fan for the cabinet, but didn't think I needed one for my set up (I likely would have installed one if he recommended it).
Throughout the process I emailed Adam often with questions and changes to his scope of work.  He always replied promptly and courteously and sent revised estimates whenever I made adjustments to what I wanted.
Bottom line - Encore will help you build the home theater system that's right for you.  Service continues after your install - Adam offered to make himself available for help/questions, though I haven't had a need to reach out to him yet.
I highly recommend using this small business.  They are friendly, knowledgeable, and understand their customers.

Justin Ritchie and his crew came a couple of days ahead of time to review the scope of the work and to give me an estimate. They were very professional and they clearly outlined what had to be done and the costs to do all of this. These guys gave me the impression that they were honest, hard working people

They arrived for the project on time and went right to work. They did a beautiful job and they cleaned up after themselves. The installations looked great!

They did exactly what they promised and I was very satisfied. I will use them for future projects.
