Joel worked quickly and, as home improvement jobs sometimes go, there was, of course, a problem. The piece of chain provided from the factory with the chandelier was only a couple of feet long, at most, when the correct chain length included should have been six feet. We discussed our choices and decided Joel would go to the nearby Ace Hardware and hopefully find the right chain for this purpose. He was able to do that and still get the job done in the two hours allotted in the estimate. Joel finished the job and all was done to my satisfaction.
Joel was pleasant the whole time and unflustered by the predicament caused by the too-short chain. He found a solution and saw it through, and still completed the job satisfactorily within the expected time frame. Minutes before, I had visions of this job ending up costing us much more than the estimate and, happily, that was not the case.
Joel's skill, pleasant personality, and professionalism all impressed me. And my brief experience with Josh by phone was also very satisfactory. They had been recommended by a neighbor who had Wire Craft install two chandeliers and was very well pleased with them also. I would recommend Wire Craft without hesitation.
He used an outlet I had on had, and actually had to use two. The original bad GFI was replaced with a new, also bad GFI, and by the time we were on our 2nd replacement GFI, it finally worked.
He also tested the remaining 2 outlets to verify that the only reason they had issues were because of the bad GFI.
I will say that I wasn't very happy that he was nearly 30 minutes late to the appointment, but he had called to let me know he was running late due to traffic. I checked WSDOT's traffic map and raffic was very bad that day, so I understood. However, he let it slip later that he couldn't find his keys and that was less than impressive.
I'm not sure how satisfied I am about the price. It was $220 + tax (their minimum for a call-out), and from what I can tell on the invoice, if I hadn't had the GFI replacements myself they would have also charged me for those (probably industry standard). Because this is my first time calling out an electrician (1st time homeowner), I have no frame of reference for if that is or is not a competitive price.
However, being my first time calling out an electrician, I didn't care how much it was and went with a company that I knew the reputation of. I know the owners and know that if there had been any problems we would get it taken care of.
All in all, I'm planning on some future jobs and I'll definitely be calling them again.
