Roman always gets the job done. We first found him when we discovered a seriously leaking outdoor faucet. He responded quickly and fixed the problem, although he noted that the plumbing in the house supporting the faucet was kind of fragile. A couple of years later the faucet leaked again and the problem was inside. Our house was built in the late 20's and the plumbing in some parts is fragile to say the least. The fix required some very creative solutions which he accomplished with minimum disruption to our wallboard and interior. Six months later the faucet was leaking again! It was due this time to a manufacturing defect. Roman spent several hours on the job, having to get a specialized new faucet. NO CHARGE! Roman will definitely continue to be our go-to guy for plumbing.

Roman was very professional and personable. He even removed his shoes at our request (we have a baby), which I understand is not a comfortable ask for most plumbing professionals. He came on the same day I called, quoted the services exactly and did a fast and thorough job. We will definitely call upon him for future plumbing needs.

Same day service.  No nonsense guy.  Checked out the problem and fixed it.  Best plumbing service we've had.

Roman is a nice man and he responds promptly. However, he handed us a final bill that was more than double his estimate with no warning to us whatsoever. The difference might have been understandable if he'd encountered something unexpected, but he knew the conditions, having done $2,000 of work in exactly the same location three years earlier. Nothing had changed on the jobsite from the last time he was there and he told us that nothing unusual had come up while he was working this time. His estimate could and should have been pretty accurate.

I'm aware that lots of contractors give lowball estimates because they want the job, but each time it happens the customer has to decide whether that contractor is inexperienced or ethically challenged. Either way, the result is the same, a shockingly high bill from a contractor you no longer feel you can trust.

I didn't like the fact that he bought a shower head that I didn't think was satisfactory and I had to tell him that it wasn't acceptable. It should have been obvious from the specific functions we had describedo . He went out and got another ( very good but EXPENSIVE ) shower head and I should of asked to see the receipt but forget to. Even so seems like something any worker would automatially do especially when the item is expensive and I think a person should show you what the materials used cost. He was okay, not great and not bad. Make sure you request receipts. I don't know anything about plumbing and I wasn't sure if everything he said needed to be done, actually did need to be done. There was just an issue of whether I could totally trust him or not .

I'd had a licensed plumbing company last year give a
bid for the same drain unplugging and the same new Koehler toilet in another location in the house, and their bid was for
$475, including toilet at contractor cost, 1 year warranty, etc.  When
Roman said it would be around $600, I told him I'd go pick up a Koehler toilet myself
at $218 and save $160 (same quality toilet, according to other plumbers).  He
insisted his was better, didn't even give me a chance to pick one up myself because he said he couldn't guarantee it, charged me list price tho he paid contractor's price at Keller Supply
(which gave him a dandy profit), said he had to charge higher price because he
insures his work for a year or 2.  After all materials, etc the total came
to $805.  When I gasped that I was not expecting to pay so much, he said,
"Well, with such a nice toilet, you can raise your tenant's
rent to make up for it.  You can charge more rent for such a nice toilet."!!  I don't raise rent on good tenants, so that was an
insult--raise their rent in order to put more money into his pocket!  I'd
told him I was a member of Angie's list and laid off from my job, and this is
the reduced price he charged for a simple, less than an hour unplug of a drain, and a return
call to install his fine, top-of-the-line white toilet!  I should have called
someone else, but everyone else was 2 days out before they could come.  I should have looked harder.  I can't recommend him.  He was not straight-forward with his cost estimate, but he got the job done in 2 days, if that's worth it.

I'm thrilled with all the work he did and I think the cost was very reasonable. I will hire him again. He did get the C and H backwards and silicone them on, though, which is not that big a deal.

I called Roman based on positive reviews here on Angie's list. When he was available to come do the job on the same day I called him, I was sold. He was about 1/2 hour late arriving - no big deal to me, but the reason I docked him on punctuality - simply by definition. He was personable and professional. I  had the site demo'd, water off, and pipes disconnected when Roman arrived. It seemed a straight forward job to install the new valve, mount it to the wall, reconnect the water supplies and a new copper pipe to the shower outlet and test the results. Roman estimated a 1.5 to 2 hr. job - which I agreed seemed reasonable. I have to say, I felt like things were moving more slowly than expected, a personal phone call here or there, with no significant difficulty or new discoveries in the job. In the end it took 3.5 hours and a nearly $500 to complete. I am fairly handy myself and hire a plumber primarily to save me several trips to the store to get all the pieces I need... I expect that if I had a plumbers supply of connectors and gadgets, I would have finished this job in about the same time. The quality of the work is good, of course. Again, when I look at the other reviews, the scope of work done, and the price charged, I think I paid too much - and feel a little taken. Oh well. His timeliness has allowed me to continue making progress on the rest of my project, so I am still satisfied.

Roman suggested that time ($118 per hour) and materials would be best for this job, as it was unclear how extensive the job would be until he started removing some of the old pipes and fittings. Ultimately I got more work done for less money than if I had accepted the other quote.

Roman usually works by himself (maybe uses an assistant on bigger jobs). He works efficiently and gets more done in an hour than many larger companies who send out a less experienced employee.

Overall the work was done well.

I contacted several plumbing companies before deciding to hire Roman Szarowski at Wallingford Plumbing. I appreciated Roman's prompt responses to my queries; his competency, affability and candor on the job; and his reasonable pricing. As you can see above, I had accumulated several projects before finally hiring a plumber. When I needed a new washing machine, and none of the current models would fit my laundry closet because our supply valves stuck out too far, I knew it was time to hire someone. I thought the valves would have to be moved, an expensive-sounding prospect, but Roman explained that he could shorten them so the new washer would fit (less expensive and no tearing into the wall necessary).

Roman was able to come over the same day.  He explained the problem and offered the best and most reasonable solution.   He estimated the time it would take with accuracy.   Fantastic professionalism but left one small smudge of pipe sealing that stained our cheap tile floor.   I was not too worried about that because we will eventually replace them.   We got a quote for the same job by Beacon Plumbing who wanted to charge us twice as much.

Roman first removed the damaged drain--it took a lot of effort and then installed a new connection, plumbed the sink and installed the sink on the vanity.

I called Roman and he came out the same day, efficiently spliced in new pipe, tested, found another split I hadn't noticed, repaired that, insulated the whole thing, and showed me where to unscrew a coupling if it gets that cold again. He was smart, knew his work, and had his brain engaged--ie thinking about how the system should be set up to prevent future problems, educating me as he worked. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

Roman is an honest, skilled plumber. He responded to a rental house, identified the problem, and communicated well. His rates were fair and are in line with the market; however I cannot afford standard market rates. Therefore I would only use him (or any other regular rate plumber) in an emergency, and plan to tackle future rental house plumbing myself. Good plumber though!
