Van Hollebeke's Landscaping has mowed and trimmed our lawn for over 30 years. At first they did this only once a month and my husband did the mowing in between. As life became busier we switched to more frequent mowing and after my husband passed, I was still able to afford the service as their prices are very reasonable. In addition to lawn work, they have done various other tasks for me such as fertilizing and pruning. Chris, the owner, is always willing to talk over what needs to be done but is not pushy about doing work that I can manage on my own. He just gives me a price for the work I request.

They did a nice job, worked promptly, and stuck to the quote which was reasonable.

It's okay, I think they could do better. I think they could put a little more mulch down they could be a little more consistent in cleaning up some areas I have asked them to clean up, which I am trying to adjust now with them. I know it has been a pretty crazy summer for everybody so I am trying to give them some slack. I have some huge trees out front there is grass under these trees, it needs to be well trimmed and they haven't been doing that on a regular basis. They do pretty well, they just miss a few things here and there and I have to bring it to their attention. After I see that they have been in my yard I see some places that still have weeds. They are really tiny so I don't go crazy, but I think they could rake things out a little better and like I said put more mulch down to make the yard look nicer.

They were busy so we scheduled several weeks out; Chris promised to have the work completed by the end of May and they ended up coming out several weeks early while we were out of town. Really great to come back to pristine yard. All work was completed as discussed.

I had been attempting (unsuccessfully) to keep up the garden this year, but by the time Chris came to take a look it was pretty much out of control.  We did a walk around and I told him what I wanted done and he quoted a price, which was very fair.  About two weeks later, as planned, his crew came to our yard and did an amazing job pulling out nearly all the weeds, raking the yard, and even cleaned up the pathways around our garden.  It looks as good as the day we bought the house 4 years ago and we are now going to use this company to upkeep our garden as well.  I would highly recommend them for raking and weeding services.

I am so disappointed in this lawn service provider! I have very little lawn, but some tricky curves and edging. I was thrilled to find someone with a reasonable cost who was willing to mow and edge twice a month instead of insisting on 3 or 4 times a month. The cost was almost double what I had paid before but after calling half a dozen other services who either were even more expensive or didn't mow in my part of the city or were too busy I didn't have a lot of options. I made it clear in the initial conversation that I had two concerns: clean professional edging and gentleness with the surroundings so there was no collateral damage, as I had had lawn services break lawn furniture and garden art like bird houses in the past. The owner seemed nice and seemed to be listening.
The first visit resulted in an ok mow, but the edges looked messy and not carefully done, and I had had a different quality of work provided in the 8 years previous (that person retired) and expected it would look the same -- edging is what makes a lawn look beautiful if done right. So I asked on the second try if he could make the edges crisper and more finished. Instead the work is wildly inconsistent--some areas with harsh cuts and other areas beveled and singed. Several edges of new sod are completely burned away to the ground, and probably 25-35% of the lawn is damaged at the edges and from too close mowing on new sod.
In addition, sculpture projects a foot or two from the lawn were tossed and broken. I now have a very unhappy tenant (the sculptor) who is looking for a new place to live as a result. This after I specifically asked the crew to be careful on my property and not to damage anything.
With Van Hollebeke scheduling was problematic and several times I was told that "I am just so darn busy." The crew was here for between 10 and 12 minutes. I have never written a negative review--even with other providers who haven't done a very good job, I just don't like to publicly diss someone. But I am looking at actual damage to my garden -- and my finances --  if my tenant leaves as a result of the carelessness here, so I am taking the time to write because that is the way Angie's list is supposed to work--feedback. 
This company would be probably just fine for a large lawn that has no finessing needed,and no garden beds, fences or curves. I just wish I had been told up front that this wasn't a good fit for my kind of garden.

We've had regular mowing every two weeks this summer.  No complaints.

We completely neglected our yard for a year after having a new baby and then decided to sell our house. The yard was a mess. We had a ton of weeds, overgrown clematis, bamboo that hadn't been pruned back, dead lavendar bushes, and more. Further we have a rockery that was all full of crap. Chris came out and helped us get it all back. His guys did an amazing job. They weeded, cleared, mowed, trimmed, and pruned. In the end it looks new again!

Our landscaping has no lawn, and it is hard to find someone to help us maintain it.  Most landscape maintenance companies are just "mow and blow."  Chris came and looked at our yard and we worked out together what we want him to do.  He and his workers will come twice a month to weed and trim.  We will also hire them to do hedge trimming once a year and we have a small tree we will want them to remove.  
Both Chris and his workers are very conscientious.  Their work has been careful and they don't hesitate to ask if they have questions.  We are very happy with their work.

They did a great job. They arrived on-time and worked quickly.

Chris and his crews have been excellent.  I hired them last fall after my lawn mower died and I decided I didn't want to mess with a new mower until the following spring.  Based on reviews in Angie's List, I contacted Chris and he came out and provided an estimate.  It was acceptable to me and, in September, he began to mow and otherwise maintain the lawn.  Service has been Great.  He has performed aeration and seeding in addition to regular cutting.  When he or his crew is finished cutting, the lawn ALWAYS looks better than it did when I used to do the cutting.  So this spring, rather than shopping for a new lawn mower, I am having Chris and his gang continue to the service for me.
Nice company, highly responsive.  Best recommendation I can give.

Our yard is always neat, the edges look great - Chris is easy to work with, honest and reliable.  We love not having to worry about the yard work anymore!

Chris and his 1 man crew arrived on time and began work immediately.  Both men were very professional and pleasant to work with. The clean up went quickly for the amount of trimming that was needed.  I would and will have them do more work for me!

Their pricing is reasonable, very fast estimate on all properties within 2 days.  Rates vary based on sq footage of the yard.  They also have good rates on hedge trimming.  No complaints from tenants or neighbors.  Lawns mowed 20 times per year averaging 2 times a month during the growing season.  Basically a perfect contractor relationship for yard care.

It went very well. They are thorough and quick. My only issue is the price, but I suppose it is comparable to others in the area. I would definitely recommend them to others.

We have a very small area of grass that needs to be cut & they do a great job with it.  They come every 2 weeks.  We are very satisfied with the service.  They also do several of my neighbor's lawns, all of which are bigger jobs than mine.  That's how we found them.

They come twice a month all year round and they do gardening and lawn mowing.  They do a good job.  They are reliable and do good work.  I have used them for years.
