True North Home Inspections

Keven was thorough in his approach. He has some very high-tech equipment that was able to detect moisture in the walls, and read where heat was being lost from the home. Overall we felt he did a very good job. He tends to point out everything that is wrong, which I prefer with a home inspector. I had some follow up questions after my inspection, and his follow through on those was so-so, which was kind of a bummer. Despite that I'd hire him again.

This review is long overdue but I wanted to make sure I mentioned how great Keven was on our home inspection, It helped us feel confident in not only purchasing our home but knowing what projects to be completed. His knowledge saved us thousand of dollars. We have and will continue to recommend him to others. 

Very prompt, thorough inspection. This house was "hot" with multiple buyers bidding so speed was important. Report provided electronically very quickly. The inspection was great and went beyond what I expected catching every detail and issue. It's so thorough noting every defect it might make you paranoid about every house you view but better to know than not know with such big transactions!

This was the 2nd house Keven inspected for me.

Because of what he found wrong with the first home we didn't complete the purchase.

Keven does a great job doing the inspection as well as providing complete documentation with photos and video.

He did find a few problems with the 2nd house but nothing major like the first house that had an unsafe furnace, standing water in the crawl space that was full of mold, and rats to name a few.

As a result of the inspection I did not go through with the the deal for the house.

Keven is very professional, knowledgeable, but serious and quiet. He did a very good job. Personally, I like someone a bit more talkative but that's me. Overall, I'm okay with him but I'd rather have someone a bit friendlier. Excellent report. Thermal imaging is really cool too.

It could not have been worse. The guy is totally incompetent and is all fluff. It is awful. He has a lot of gadgets that he likes to use to impress people with. However, there is a lot of things in front of him he can not see. I had other contractors come to my house to inspect because he made me feel that my house was so unsafe. The contractors only found two of the things on the inspection report that actually needed repairs. He cost me a sale on my house. He should not be allowed to conduct his business that way to where he can totally exploit a house so that someone can get out of the contact. That is unethical.

My experience with Keven was wonderful and I would go back to him. In fact, I ended up hiring him to inspect 3 houses total before I found the right house to complete my purchase transaction on. Each time the houses looked pretty, but would have been lemons or become a money pit based on what Keven found. Since I was a repeat customer, Keven also gave me a discount on my inspection.
One of my favorite moments was when he quoted Mike Holmes (best known for reality/home improvement shows 'Holmes on Homes', 'Holmes Inspection', and 'All American Handyman') to me. That's when I knew I picked the right person for the job.

We had True North perform an inspection for our first ever home purchase. They were very thorough and caught a number of issues that we were able to have the owner fix prior to closing on the home. Some particularly helpful things were:
- the use of an infrared device that helps to determine where insulation is likely missing and where rodents may be present
- a very easy-to-read report with pictures and videos visible on a tablet PC. we were able to review most of the inspection results while the inspector was still there so that we could ask questions

Went smoothly. It took a little under 3 hours and Keven was great! He noticed that the roof needed to be completely replaced. The owner/lienholder would not repair so we did not get the house but without the inspection we wouldn't have known and would have, perhaps, gotten a lemon.
We are continuing our home search and Keven will be the first one we call for inspection!

I saw one of Keven's previous reports and was impressed. Because it was the best report we had seen we decided to use Keven when we did find a home we wanted to purchase. I ordered the inspection online and the process was very easy. He was professional and thorough. Keven was able to give us a summary report immediately which was especially helpful since we were in a time crunch. We received the full report early the next day. Keven was more reasonably priced than a former inspector we used plus Keven uses thermal imaging which I highly recommend. I would definitely use him again.

Like others we didn't shop around much so I can't comment on price relative to others. But Keven was recommended by our agent and he was able to do the work just two days after our home purchase offer was accepted. He was at the property a few minutes early and was very professional. The inspection was very thorough and he didn't mind me tagging along to ask questions about what he was observing and some general questions about home maintenance for the future. He did a lot of stuff that my my last home inspector (in another state) did not do: thermal imaging all over house, monitoring carbon monoxide/gas leaks around fireplace and furnace, even climbed up on the roof to check it out. We got a very clear and detailed report at the end of the day. The next day I wrote to ask a question about one of his observations and he was able to respond at the end of the day.

We didn't shop around for a lower price, but Keven's service was well worth the charge. We highly recommend him.

As other reviewers, I'm very satisfied with his service. I highly recommend him to any home buyers. If you are still not sure, go check out his website. He uses the thermal device like the one in Holmes on Homes on HGTV. Not many inspectors provide thermal images in the report.

Keven was very professional and meticulous. He saved me from making an enormous mistake on the first house I made an offer on and I was so impressed that I used him for the second house I made an offer on. He is very detailed, illustrates his concerns about your house in his reports with photographs. The level of detail of his report enabled me to get thousands in seller credits and price reductions for the house I purchased. I highly recommend him to anyone.

Keven was personable, hard-working, knowledgeable, and thorough. We were referred to him by our agent, and I did some online researching before deciding to hire him. We were fortunate that he was able to come out the day after being called since we were on a tight inspection timeline. He was a few minutes early and set to work right away.

He worked hard and did a thorough inspection of the entire house, including attics, roof, and crawl space. Although he was busy, he stopped and took the time to show us some of his more substantial findings -- definitely helpful when it came time to explain these areas to contractors from which we were trying to get estimates. We got a verbal download of the major findings at the end of the inspection (enough to proceed with scheduling follow-up contractor visits). We received a summary report by email the next morning, and the full 47 page report the following morning (5 AM!). We found his report very clear and easy to read, with pictures and thermal images imbedded in the report.

Would definitely use him again!

Keven was very thorough and I found the pricing quite reasonable. Like the other poster I also didn't shop around because it's a bank-owned property and since I negotiated for a good deal I only had 5 days to do my inspection. Fortunately Keven just had a cancellation and so he was able to take me the following day. He inspected the whole place and pointed out some problems that I wouldn't have noticed. He's careful and meticulous -- almost too meticulous but in a good way. I would prefer that my home inspector point out everything. My place is a new construction and it's about 1312 sq feet but it still took Keven roughly 2 1/2 hours. So you know he's thorough.

Keven comes with a printer and he does his report at the scene. He does his report with some speech recognition technology.

I was there while he did his inspection and found him to be very thorough and knowledgeable. He explained what he found both good and bad well, and his written report included significant detail including pictures. I didn't shop around much and therefore don't know how his pricing compares to other inspectors but felt he did a great job, and had some reinforcement of my conviction when other more specialized inspections of the masonry found the same findings Keven did.
