My husband and I contracted with a fence company and we needed some brick columns.  We were referred to Structural Solutions.  We needed some masonry work done and it came out excellent!  We were very happy to have been referred to them and here's why:
I'm a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM), barely 5 feet tall and have a big baby attached to me. Some contractors come in and try to bully me, talk over me and have actually ignored some of my questions. And this is during the interview! What most contractors don't know is that I make the decisions on designs for our home regarding hiring and firing of contractors because Guess what? I'm the one they have to work with.
Thankfully, not all contractors are created equal.
The Structural Solutions company had me meet with Peter.  The interview went really well. He was very respectful and attentive. They were flexible on work and price. So, they were hired.
Robin came out to work on the job.  He set my mind at ease with the rainy weather (oh, Seattle!) and the setting of the mortar.  Peter and Robing talked me through information and were patient while I asked and asked again.  Additionally, one of the columns was set too far off for my liking.  I expressed this and Robin's response was "No problem.  We'll figure it out and fix it."  No Whining.  No Complaining.  No BS.  Sigh! What a breath of fresh air! So, more than likely due to this and it being a holiday weekend, it took a little longer than expected.  But hey, I'd rather have a contractor who doesn't b****, does good work and treats me well than one that's in and out and doesn't clean up after themselves and treats me like he's doing me a favor for even showing up.  Oh yeah, I speak from experience.
Additionally, the clean-up deserves and honorable mention.  Some contractors don't clean up after themselves.  These do.  It was nice to see.  They even respected my wild flowers and took care not to trample them while they were here working.  It was quite nice to note.  I assure you.
While treating your customers like this is common sense, common sense is not so common among contractors. Thankfully Structural Solns has plenty. This is why I have to give Structural Solns. the highest rating, a good reference and any work that my friends or I may need in the future.  Thanks for a good job guys.  Don't change.

Continued broken promises about a refund.  Please please please do your homework before hiring this company.

We hired this company to help with our water issues in our older home.  They committed to putting up a water barrier, adding a French Drain and paving the side yard and two other jobs (rebuilding the fire and one other job) that we pulled once we saw the work quality and delays. They took a 50% deposit the day of the bid and then started relatively quickly, however, after getting started and making a mess in our yard they were gone and could not be reached.  We thought they had abandoned the job! After frantic calls they did finally show up to put a sign in the yard, but then left again. The job was drawn out far longer than reasonable. When the workers were there, they appeared to have no guidance or understanding of what they were supposed to be doing or what had been discussed with management.  They dug up the side yard to ?move? our drain hose away from the house. It ended up in the same
place, but worse with a bend in it where the water would gather and drain near the wall with holes poked by tools. They created more of an opportunity for water damage. When they were finally finished the pavers sunk deeply in the areas where the ground was dug up because they did not compact.  In addition. the pavers were never edged per our agreement.  We had to have the pavers pulled up in areas that sunk and the pipe relayed with the proper non-bending material.   We requested a reimbursement of the deposit as the work was not done even remotely satisfactorily and they agreed, however, we never saw any refund.
I would NOT recommend this company!

Peter and his crew did a great job restoring our 100-year-old rock wall to its former glory. They were very respectful of the fact that this wall means a lot to us. They took it apart, reinforced it, and reassembled it exactly the same way, only once more vertical! Peter even worked with us to figure out how to grow moss on the stones again. Peter's communication is excellent; we knew what was happening every step of the way. It was an expensive project to undertake, but they do quality work and we got what we paid for.

We're still dealing with them to try and get them to finish the job.  We were expecting them to show up today and I just talked to them and they can't make it.  It's kind of dragging on and on.  We're not quite sure how we're going to handle it this time.  They are at least making attempts to call us and tell us they are going to finish everything.  The mason did incredible work, the business aspect and how they handled it was very poor.

Our original project started out to be a small patio and pizza oven. As projects often go, it grew into something much bigger and better! Our small patio grew to more than twice the size and the pizza oven became a pizza oven, BBQ, and "refreshment" bar! The crew was more than accommodating and patient with all the changes and often spent time with us to exchange ideas as the project took on a life of its own. Everything took much longer than originally thought; partly because of the change in plans and partly because of our lousy Seattle weather. Due to our variable working schedules, we were able to be at home quite often while the guys worked. They were hard-working, talented and a pleasure to have around. Due to the size of the project, it took quite a long time and it gave us a chance to get to know the guys spending so much time at our home and we really enjoyed seeing them each day. Erik, Antonio and Armondo enjoyed the lunches we fed them : ) ; we loved having them at our home, and our dog loved the treats he got from them when he realized begging worked with them. Our project was big and messy....lots of excavated dirt/grass etc (things that were expected) and sometimes (unexpected/unwelcome mess) ...concrete bags were left out and things not always picked-up at the end of the day. All said and done, the inconveniences were minor in comparison to the great work and the positive attitudes of the crew. I would highly recommend this company to anyone! We are very pleased with the outcome and look forward to the backyard entertaining this next spring and summer.

Guys were great from the first time they showed up to look at the project to the last day of clean-up. They always showed up when they said they would and performed the exact work they said they would perform. The crew was very professional and flexible when it came to the needs of my napping children. The knowledge, expertise and professionalism they carry is unparalleled. I wish they were plumbers too! I would hire them for every household project.
