Paid $190 for someone to tell us it needed a $15 part, but she didn't have it. Said she would order and someone would call to come out a fix the frig. Nothing in 12 days.
Response from Seattle Fridge Repair
"Dear [Member Name Removed], I'm sorry to hear that you had negative experience with somebody however we never performed any work and/or estimating at your house. I checked our records and we don’t have you on file. Also our service call charge is only $89 which is much lower than you’ve been charged. Would you please check the company and remove this negative review. Please give us a call 206-203-2665 if you have any questions. Thank you"

Beautifully, esp. because it's a very unusual European brand (Blomberg) yet the technician, Sam, knew exactly what to do. He was just perfect, though it seemed like a lot of money for blowing out a drainage system. Now I'm waiting for him to come back, as the level needs adjusting (door doesn't swing shut automatically). But I'm sure he will.

Excellent job! We recently experienced flooding in our kitchen and needed to find someone to quickly remove our SubZero built-in refrigerator before demo could begin. I was cautioned to find someone with SubZero experience rather than a plumber. Sam came out immediately and got the job done quickly. He was knowledgeable in dealing with the specifics of our refrigerator, careful with the appliance and cabinetry and took time to troubleshoot for damage. Will use this company for future SubZero repairs.

All the other repair services we called couldn't come for several days, but Sam the repair tech was able to come the following day. The repair was done promptly and the cost was reasonable. I'd use them again.

overall, a fantastic experience end-to-end. scheduling and service were perfect. only issue was cost. not sure if it's the part or the labor, as the company doesn't break it out on the invoice, but it seemed very expensive for the amount of labor time and only replacing one part (dual temp sensor). would hire again, but possibly check around a bit on pricing first. more detail below... - scheduling the appointment was easy. they were available to come the next day (a sunday). no additional charge for weekend service. - arrived within appointment window and called ahead as expected. - serviceman was professional and courteous. - diagnosed the problem quickly (burned out temp sensor, clogged condenser). - found part in van quickly. - checked w/ me on price before performing service. - finished service quickly. - explained to me how to maintain condenser to minimize risk of future clogging. only issue was the price. cost seemed extremely high for the amount of work required. not sure if this is industry standard - might be that the sub zero part was super expensive. but it was definitely sticker shock. serviceman gave me a $25 discount (~2.5% of total pre-tax cost), which was great, and seems like standard practice, b/c he didn't have to call for approval.

We moved into a new house with a "luxury" Dacor refrigerator that turned out to be a total lemon. Sam from Seattle Fridge Repair has been to our house now about 7 times over the last few months, including evenings, holidays and weekends, trying to save us the massive expense of replacing an enormous but odd-sized, built-in refrigerator. Other companies wouldn't even come take a look because the model number was (weirdly, mysteriously) removed from the fridge before we bought the house, so it's extremely time-consuming and frustrating trying to find replacement parts. Sam has stuck with us and has reached out to other technicians he knows to try to creatively solve our fridge problem. We let him know when we had hit our spending limit on repairs (figuring at some point we had to accept the inevitable and simply replace the lemon). He continued to come over, not charging us, and trying a variety of after-market fixes to see if he could keep the thing working for us. It feels like he took on our fridge as a personal challenge and has been as committed to fixing it as you would expect from a personal friend who happened to be a fridge technician. I have already recommended Sam to friends and neighborhood listserves because we have been floored by his dedication, creativity, and business ethics. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Seattle Fridge Repair was excellent. They came out the day after I called them. Sam diagnosed that there was ice build-up because the compressor was clogged with dog hair (my bad) so it did not allow the normal condensation to drain & evaporate. Instead the drains were clogged and froze. He took the fridge apart, allowed the ice to melt, vacuumed the compressor & the coils & cleaned everything. It's not happened again since he came out. There is a 6 month warranty on the repair, but as long as I vacuum the back & under the fridge regularly, I don't expect it to happen again. I would definitely hire them again.
