Update 4/24/2015 - I am amending our review to show that Rock Solid is indeed, rock solid.  Previously, we had a hiccup in communication, and honestly, I was quite frustrated with that (as shown by my previous review).  However, Gregory and the company have shown again that they are amazing!  I sincerely apologize for that review, and I am glad that they are responsive and actively improve.  I would recommend them to anyone!

Update 1/8/2015 - Since we are putting our house on the market, and we were not able to take care of our lawn as well as Rock Solid Landscapes (go figure... lol), we emailed them to get a quote for work.  This time around, Gregory was very prompt with his reply and setting up an estimate appointment was quite easy and quick to happen.  Maybe there were some "growing pains" when Gregory took over for Tracy, but all seems well now.  We are happy to give them another shot!

In regards to our previous review, we were frustrated with the lack of communication over the change in price.  They had always done very good work.  It appears that the communication has vastly improved!  Additionally, we did find out that their new price was right on par with other companies, we just happened to be getting a great deal in the mean time.

5/1/2014 - We have a rental house in Ballard that needed maintaining since we were going to be out of state for a while. Tracy came out and gave us an estimate for the initial clean and then monthly contract. We loved what they did for a few years! When the yearly contract would be up for renewal, there was usually an increase but that was to be expected. Tracy would usually contact us ahead of time to let us know about the increase and why it was happening. Then company contact changed. Communication was not prompt and they seemed to think that our renter was in charge, not us. Finally, when our contract renewal came up it went up to $240 per month from the previous $150. You would think that a $90 increase per month would warrant some explanation or contact. Our house has a lawn, about 7 plants in front and 8 in back. While these guys do a great job on the lawn, the poor communication combined with the huge increase in price led us to cancel the contract.

Wade and Susan came out and spent a few hours with me, walking the yard, and determining what plants were worth preserving, what needed to go, and what plants would work as replacements. Susan also made a list of plant suggestions, and we met at a nursery to buy a bunch of new plants and a few trees for RSL to install. When the work commenced, the crew was on-time and worked very hard. It took several crew members and a solid week to clear out the overgrowth in the yard, remove all the plants next to the house (boy did that help with the interior and quot;spider issueand quot;), prune a majority of the and quot;keepersand quot;, and install the new plants. I was very pleased with the outcome. I paid cash, so Wade offered me a discount. That was pretty sweet.
Three years later, it's time to figure out the next steps in this yard; I will definitely be calling RSL to see what we can come up with.

It went quite well. They had to bring in all the granite boulders and then they had to dig out a huge stump. They had to create 2 walls; one big wall and one little wall. Then they filled in and dug out the dirt behind the walls for a pointing bed. They did a lot and it was a positive experience. I didn't get estimates because I've has them before; so I don't know much about the price, but I suspect that they are reasonable, which is why I had them before.

Wade, Jeff and team did an excellent job on a two-phase landscape renovation project. The project included: new patio/walkway, flagstone cut-out in driveway, renovating waterfall and pond, new lawn, new planting beds, and existing planting bed renovation. I'm a passionate gardener with many perennials and shrubs in my landscape and I've worked with several landscaping/maintenance firms over the years. Rock Solid is the best firm that I've worked with. They did excellent work, kept to the schedule as much as the rain allowed, and adjusted as I changed things during each phase. They collaborated with me on ideas and techniques which created a better solution. Jeff, the project supervisor, did a superb job of keeping me informed throughout the project and giving me options. The concrete and rockery work was complex and he made sure that it came out right. Most importantly, when there was a leak in the waterfall, they stayed on it until it got resolved, and they made sure that none of my plants got damaged during the project. We'll use them again and recommend them to our friends.

Wade was timely and thorough during the proposal writing/project definition phase and Rock Solid provided good value for the fees that we paid. Both Wade and Jeff were responsive during each phase of the project. We enjoyed working with this team of landscaping professionals.

Wade was prompt, professional and easy to work with. Although mine was a small project, it was clear from our conversations that his skills and expertise would be a definite asset for nearly any landscaping project. The mason began work promptly and worked consecutive days until the project was finished (four days). The job site was clean and neat at the end of every work day.

We were thrilled with the work done by Wade and his crew. The project was completed for the estimated price and the results are stunning. They were very responsive and communicated well with us during every step of the process. In particular, Jeff was an outstanding project manager and stone mason. They all worked very hard through some particularly nasty weather. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking thorough, high-quality stone work.

I thought his work was excellent and it turned out great. He was very willing to listen taking our ideas in to account. He is not a designer but he was able to put together a plan that was exactly what we wanted from what we told him. He was very flexible as we had some timing issues that came up along the way. He was very easy to work with and come in right at bid. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Wade and his crew were professional, on-time and on-budget. They worked very hard moving some huge rocks and trees. We are very happy with the result and have received many compliments from friends and neighbors. It's really amazing what they accomplished in just a couple of days. I was most impressed by the fields of expertise in the firm: Plant experts, rock and geology experts, and overall design experts.
