Internet Service
I use their internet service for browsing. I use it for my home office, and uploading and downloading files. A video takes about 30 seconds to download. Their service is adequate. It is inefficient at high latency in their DSL system. The responsiveness is unusually slow for terminal sessions and voice over IT applications, but it is better than cable internet.

The land line has basic features, and we don't use it except to receive internet service. My experience with the internet service is fine. I use it rarely and have no comments on it. Their price is okay. I am not happy necessarily, but I have to pay for the land line in order to receive internet service.

We've been with them for over two years, and I have no plans to switch. All of my family lives in Ohio, so the fact that I get unlimited long-distance calls is awesome. I have only called them once, to get all the services back when we moved.

The download speed isn't too bad. I am able to download a song in about 30 seconds. They aren't bad unless you have to talk to them on the phone.

Anytime I call them up, I have a horrible experience. They send out new offers to get the service cheaper and about once a year I call them up. Over the phone, what they offer sounds like a better deal until I get my bill and it's not true. When I call them to deal with it, I don't feel like they are helping me at all and at times were rude.

Overall, the service has been great. About a month ago, our internet stopped working because we change our options. We never heard from Qwest when the changes would take place. After calling them, they stated "There may be an outage in your area." They never said for sure if there was an outage or not, but hung up with me. After calling several more times, I finally talked to someone who knew what they were talking about. The most brutal part was, it couldn't be fixed until after the weekend. I could have been fixed on Friday, but since it took all day to talk to a person who knew anything, put a kink in our service.

It was a frustrating experience. Our internet frequently cut out and customer service was not helpful. They said the problem was likely cell phone interference which did not make any sense in regard to the problem we were having. I think our house location just did not work with Qwest's service. When we canceled, they did refund some of our money.

Qwest is a good company with reliable connectivity. My gripe? They were not able to compete with the cable company for phone service (free long distance). Upon switching to the cable company, I became accustomed to paying half as much for MORE service and features. Can't really argue with that.

Satellite TV Equipment Service
Overall, it was okay - the satellite works, I have some flexibility to move TVs within the house. I'm a little skeptical of the $40 charge, as they asked for check or cash; and didn't provide a receipt - but the satellite does work in the extra room, so if it saves me $79 later, I'm okay (assuming it's not automatically available in all my rooms, then I think I've been had ;-). As I didn't have check or cash on me, they went with me to the grocery store so I could get cash, which felt a little odd. They did leave a mess ; cut wires, screws, adapters, and pieces of drywall and dust where they needed to cut it where just left in place.

Very well. The new jack involved climbing into the attic and drilling and snaking wires. Did a very neat and professional job. When I explained I would be having new siding placed on the house the technician left extra slack in the wire so that it could be buried and not be on the outside of the house. She was very pleasant and professional.

THEY SUPPOSEDLY SENT SOMEONE OUT TO CHECK THE LINE. THE KIDS AND I WERE HOME AND NEVER SAW ANYONE. WE HAD TO CALL THEM AT LEAST 3 TIMES. THEY KEPT SAYING THE TROUBLE WAS INSIDE. THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO DO REWIRING OF OUR HOUSE EST. $800. THE PROBLEM WENT ON FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. FINALLY SOMEONE DID COME OUT. WE HAD A BAD LINE TO THE HOUSE. THEY REPLACED THE LINE AND WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY MORE TROUBLE.
