Initially, it was assigned to be a 6-8 month project which turned into a 14 month project. The estimate for remodeling seemed reasonable for what we wanted, but half way through the project, he wanted more money and I refused to pay him more until more progress was done. He had failed to make payments to the subcontractors and when I found this out, I demanded an explanation as to why his subcontractors were coming after me. For the next few months, I pressed him and refused to give him more money until things got done. As per our contract, anything beyond the estimate in costs were supposed to have my written consent which he did not seek. They ended up getting the majority of the work done, but the sub contractors still had not been paid and they were threatening to put leans on my home. Things were getting finished 10 months in, but the sub contractors still hadn't been paid. I contacted the bureau of labor and found that he had lost his license because he could not afford to keep his insurance. He was being contested by three other customers on similar issues I was having. He's turned out to be a bit of a con man, as he's done the same thing to others as he has to me.
Description of Work: I hired them to do a major remodeling project.

It was an existing space, so it wasn't an addition. I am having them put an addition on my rental home. The service was fabulous. They were there when they said they would be there. The estimate was right on, in fact a little less by like $40. They taped everything and kept the rest of the house totally clean. They cleaned up after themselves and they were finished in 3 days. The day they said they were coming, they were taping the carpets and covering things, they were just very professional!
Description of Work: They added a bedroom with a couple of walls and the electricity.
