$680
Jeff Nicholson came out to look at some work to be done on two buildings I manage. He sheduled and eventually performed one job at time and materials and billed me for $680. He took information for 2 other jobs, saying he'd provide estimates for the work so I could get the jobs approved and would provide a document stating that another job did not need to be done. I waited several weeks for the estimates and document, after receiving a bill for the work peformed at time and materials. I paid for the work performed and called him, asking for the estimates, even offering to pay for his time it took him to look at the scope of work, if he'd just provide estimates, which he again declined to bill me for. I still have not received the estimates or document and must have another company come out to look at the scope of work and provide estmates.

Nicholson Electric was originally one of the subcontractors that was hired by our former contractor. When we fired that general contractor, we dealt with Nicholson Electric directly. Rick and his workers are very professional and punctual. Our job required a great deal of work, and he solved everything in a good way, and he explained exactly what he would do. The only problem was that since he was a sub at first, we really didn't know how much we were paying him. (Our contractor hadn't given us any estimates at all!) Had we known, we probably would have made some design changes (instead of removing a ceiling light and installing 5-6 recessed lights, we probably would have kept that there, etc.) He has a big mobile truck, which is like a home improvement store on wheels, so I imagine that figures into the price. If I have a large job needed, I would call them, but I anticipate any future work needed on our house would be pretty small. Nevertheless, we do appreciate how he explained what should be done and basically asked us about what kind of lighting, where to install, where should we install new outlets, etc. In short, he asked our input any every stage of the process. Rick and his workers were pleasant to deal with, and all in all they were very professional. You might pay a premium, but you will be getting premium quality in return.
