We had originally booked moving service a month in advance with a different mover but a week before the move date we couldn't get a response from that vendor and found that his telephone numbers were disconnected. After some research on the web, we found out that less than a week after we originally spoke, WA state suspended his business license. In a bind, we scoured Angie's List for more contractors and was impressed by the feedback provided to Motivated Movers. We sent an email inquiry and several phone calls later we had an estimate and appointment set.
Dan and his partner showed up promptly at the moving time and they were professional, friendly, charismatic, upbeat, and helpful from start to finish. After they finished unloading the contents of their truck, they then assisted us in unloading the separate 17' truck we had rented and filled with boxes the day before. We can't say enough about the motor on these guys. They rarely seemed to take any breaks and were just plugging away like a well oiled machined. They finished well under estimated time and we can honestly say we had a great experience just talking to them. Dan's the type of guy you can relate to immediately as he's almost like one of your buddies from high school or college. We could easily see ourselves hanging out with him socially. I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend him to anybody looking for an outstanding mover.

Dan and his crew did an amazing job. They were able to get all of the furniture into our new place, which I was not expecting since it was such a difficult entryway and we have two large couches. Due to having only about three feet of space on the deck, they often had to lift pieces of furniture up and over the railing, without hitting the awning or losing things over the side of the deck. Had we done it ourselves, there is no way we would have been able to get either of our couches or our big screen tv into the house. Not only were they able to get it all into the house, all of our furniture arrived without any scratches, dings or mishaps. Very impressive! The packing that they did was also really quick, well organized, and there were no broken pieces when we unpacked.
Their bid was significantly cheaper than the other companies I contacted, and they came in under bid. I was impressed with how hard the men worked the entire day, and I appreciated how friendly and personable they were during the process - moving isn't fun, but they made it as pleasant as possible. I will definitely be using this company the next time I move.

Unfortunately, I recently had to file a small claims court action against this business. I will update this review after the court hearing. In short, I had a binding contract with Motivated Movers to move my family from our house and a storage unit at Public Storage. On the day of the move, MM fell behind and filled up their two trucks at the house, and therefore could not stop at our storage unit. At the end of the day, MM?s owner, Dan, presented us with a bill for more than the contract price (which he claimed was just an ?estimate?) , and said that the estimate did not include the storage unit. He then refused to move us out of the storage unit unless we paid even more. We did not have our copy of the contract (it was packed up in the move), so we paid him just to complete the move. We later found our contract and showed him that we had a ?binding? contract price that included the move from the house AND the storage unit. In response, Dan changed his story and claimed that his extra charges were for a separate move of a few items from my downtown office ? for which we had already paid him! He also claimed that this separate move involved two moving men and took four hours, when in fact the move involved just one man and took one hour (I know, I was there!).

"The court date the member references above took place on January 11th, and the case was dismissed with prejudice, as the members failed to appear (even though they requested the hearing and have known about it since they filed in November). As we did not have an opportunity to address these allegations in court, it is important to us that the whole story be included on this post. On the job in question, Motivated Movers did a binding estimate for a move of a residence and storage unit. On the day of the move, the members asked that we include an office move as well. We verbally confirmed with the client that an additional move (obviously) means additional time and money. Office moves do not require a written supplemental estimate per UTC (Utilities and Transportation Commission) regulations, so therefore we did not provide one. At the end of the move, the members signed and paid the bill in full. After the fact, the members requested a refund based on their original estimate. That estimate did not include the office job, which took place at the same time; therefore, that estimate did not cover the entire job, and the bill was more than the original estimate. We are a small company with strong ties to the Seattle community, and we take great pride in our work, work ethic, and honesty. On every move we go out of our way to make sure that our clients get the best service at an affordable price. As our Angie’s List client history shows, our client satisfaction ratings are extremely high. We would be happy to further discuss this particular move with any prospective client that has concerns. Motivated Movers stands by their work in this instance, and find it regrettable that this post has been included on our account."

There was a three hour minimum charge (which seems to be standard), and the work only took about about and hour to complete. The hourly rate was low compared to other companies that I had called, and I was relieved that there was no extra charge for working on Sunday. Because the work did not require a truck, they did not bring boxes, which would have been helpful as we were running low. The two-person crew worked quickly and efficiently and was professional and friendly. I definitely am hoping to have them back to return the furniture to their original places after the rooms have been painted.

Motivated Movers with Danny in the lead, made our move smooth and easy. They were wonderful, fantastic, increadable, i woud recommend them to my mother! I was worried about our move out because our driveway was so steep other companies didn't want the job, but Danny figured out that two trucks, with a smaller truck to shuttle stuff down to a bigger truck then refill the smaller truck, was the way to go. I hired them to not only move us, but to pack us up to. The cost was surprisingly reasonable and definitly worth it! They packed us up on a tuesday, on wednesday they started moving stuff into the trucks with just a bit more packing, then on to the new house. On thursday we finished up clearing out the old house and had everything in the new house at a reasonable time. It took three days, but it was realaxed for everyone, with no overtime. The estimate was right on target, and a good 25% less than their competitor. Everyone was super curtious and sweet. They took wonderful care of my stuff, labeled all the boxes and got everything to the right room. They even helped me to arange and rearange the furniture a few times. There were NO wall dings, broken pieces or oopses. All in all, they were wonderful fabulouse, fantastic. I woud recommend them to everyone!!! And dont forget to ask for the angies list discount!

Stellar... the guys just crank. This made for a three and a half hour end to end move, one that would have taken me a 12 hour day with some buddies and a U-Haul. They were able to pack the truck very professionally with no empty space getting us done in one trip. They carry lots of blankets to protect art work, furniture, flat screen TV etc.

She had to move very suddenly, so we were short of planning time. The owner of the company answered the phone himself on his way home from work and agreed to do the move on a Sunday less than a week away. The two young guys who showed up were extremely friendly and courteous and obviously had lots of experience. They were very, very careful and respectful of my mother-in-law's belongings. They had plenty of blankets in the truck for breakables and furniture. They had one walk-through of her condo before they started packing the truck -- only about half the stuff there was going with her -- and they remembered every single piece of furniture and every box in every room without being reminded. They were extremely efficient, and they knew from past experience where to park and how to get into the senior facility. Due to our time schedule, we did not shop around for pricing; however, we felt that the price was very reasonable. We will absolutely use them again if a need arises.

Called and received a quote, but was told there would be a discount for being an Angie's member. Had some trouble getting an e-mail returned, but was always responsive on the phone (and apologetic for not getting back via e-mail.) Both the owner and his helper for the day were young, energetic guys. Although I wish I would have told them to take more care in not banging corners in the apartment we were moving out of; they did a much better job in being careful helping us move things in to our new home. While young ourselves, we didn't mind hearing about last night's party, etc, but some may find that off-putting. (But maybe they'd tame that down for a more civilized client?) To us, both guys were very friendly and helpful and at the end when we had to pay up, he needed reminding we were Angie's members for the discount. But he simply apologized and then gave the discount without hesitation. Good guys that we'd recommend.

Very well. - Danny (the boss) came to my place right away after I contacted him to give me an estimate. He was very thorough in figuring out exactly how the move would work- where the movers would park, how they would get from the parking through the elevators to our apartment, etc.- which allowed Danny to give us a reliable estimate. - They split the move in to two days, one to pack our stuff in to boxes and another to move the boxes and furniture to our new house - On the day spent packing stuff in boxes, they even helped us set up an location for our baby to get away from the moving work - The movers were personable and fun to work with. Our neighbors and our apartment's leasing office staff liked them, too. - They were always on time - Nothing broke!

It went well. The whole house was moved between 7 am and noon. There were 3 movers. The only thing they couldn't move was a large leather couch to a 2nd floor living room, but I don't think that was their fault - it was just too big.

We were doing an in-city move and just wanted to hire a couple of guys who'd do the heavy lifting and deal with the truck. Danny and his friend were great. Unfortunately for them we had some pretty heavy furniture, but they did a perfect job getting it down and up the stairs without breaking anything. They were very quick and their rates were reasonable. If you're looking for a cheap move option where you do your own packing (or their web site says they'll pack on request), this is a good choice.
