I was pleased that this place does this type of specialty work (hadn't had a clue where to take the keyboard until I ran across their listing on Angie's List, then realized I'd driven past the repair shop many times), and that I could just drop off the keyboard. I appreciated hearing back within 24 hrs. with a clear indication of what was wrong and what to do about it. I did have some trouble getting there to pick up the keyboard again, as they are only open Monday-Friday until 5pm, and I work. The only downside to this experience was that I backed into one of the 2 poles in their parking lot the second time I was there, having noticed them each time & finding it very awkward to avoid them. If you go there, park on the far right side of their small parking lot (the south side) to stay as far as possible from the 2 poles at the northwest corner of the lot.
Description of Work: I brought our recently-purchased, second-hand, now non-functioning electronic keyboard to McIntyre Organ Repair service. They charge $68 up front for a diagnostic evaluation. I received a call the next day from Mr. McIntyre, telling me exactly what was wrong (the keyboard worked fine, but the adapter was shot) and where to buy a replacement adapter. When I came by a few days later to pick up the keyboard, he showed me that it worked, and showed me what to look for in an adapter.

The repairman came the same day. He was very efficient and found the problem in the disc drive. As it is an old piano, replacement parts may not be available. He disconnected the drive and that made my machine workable again. The repairman also offered to try to find a disc drive replacement, but I have not decided to follow up on this, as I have not used the disc drive for some time. He also checked my keys and explained the problems to me. Some of it he could repair, if I wished. Finally, after I asked him, he talked to me about his experiences repairing digital pianos and what I should look for in a new piano, if I choose that route. Norm is a very pleasant and knowledgeable person, who has been on the job for a long time.
Description of Work: This was more ''digital piano repair'' but there is no category for it. My 10 y/o Samick, ''baby grand'' digital piano was not working properly. It made grinding noises when I turned it on. Also, the keys were sometimes misbehaving. I called 4 people before I could find someone who could at least try to repair the machine.
