I hired Max Electric to do the work for my addition. I had already hired a general contractor for the project but wanted a different electrician, since the electrical portion of the contractor's bid was too high. Scott was very conscientious about his work. He often made suggestions for improvements (e.g. more lighting, additional outlets), even though this meant more work for him on a fixed-fee job. He was also very friendly, and willing to patiently explain any wiring concepts I sometimes asked about. He did have some difficulty meeting some of the contractor's timelines, because of other jobs he was working on. He did not end up delaying the project's completion though. I would hire Scott again because of the amount of effort he put into doing a proper job.
Description of Work: All electrical work associated with a new kitchen and bathroom addition.

Description of Work: I asked this firm to submit a bid to purchase and install undercabinet lighting and one can ligft in the kitchen, move two ceiling fans and install a third new one and install a chandelier from a 19 foot celing. The owner appeared professional and submitted what seemed to be a fair price for the work($4000.00). We arranged for him to begin the project and he showed up late for the job. I mentioned my concern about his tardiness to him as well as my interest in makling sure that he would be sure to be careful in the kitchen. He replied by saying that he couldn't do the job and picked up his things and left. As he was picking up his things, I asked him why he couldn't do the job and he did not reply. My overall rating is an F because I think walking off the job with no explanation is pretty lousy.

Scott was very responsive to our inquiry and called us ahead of his arrival time to say he would be a little late. When he arrived, he was efficient, careful and very easy to work with. He is a good communicator and is very friendly and easy to talk to. We were very pleased with his willingness to adjust the placement of fixtures as needed and was receptive to our participation in the process. He had good suggestions and obviously has a wide range of experience as both an electrician and a contractor. We will not hesitate to hire him again--he is friendly and very pleasant to be around.
Description of Work: Scott replaced 3 ceiling light fixtures with new ones that we had purchased and repaired an existing bathroom fan in our condominium. He also installed an under cabinet LED light in the kitchen and assessed the garbage disposal mechanism for us.

Both times he worked hard and was very mindful of my budget. He even went for additional supplies during his lunch break so that he wouldn't charge me extra. I was was very impressed with the quality of his work and his personal ethic. The cost for each visit was about $370. This is a remarkable price given the amount of work he did.
Description of Work: Scott Lau came to my son's condo twice to update the electrical panel, installed several GFI outlets, extended the electrical wiring so that it could reach our new water heater, and installed a light under the kitchen cabinets.

I had made arrangements to have a ceiling put in my unfinished basement, and had not thought enough about it to realize I should get recessed lights put in first. When the guys came to start the insulation before sheetrocking the ceiling, I realized it made no sense to rehang the disgusting old fluorescent light fixtures from the new ceiling. They contacted Scott, and he agreed to start the job the next day, so as to delay the ceiling project as little as possible. Scott was great about explaining to me what kind of lights would work well, how many I would need, and their placement. He put in the cans and then showed me where they all were, so that their positions could be adjusted if I wanted to. He is really careful about his work, which was important to me--since there was a lot of old wiring down there about to be covered up by the new ceiling, it was a situation that made me nervous. He pulled out old wiring and checked everything, so that really helped.
Description of Work: Scott put 24 can lights up in my basement. He put in the housings (?), and left it to me to choose and put in the trim.

The electrical went well, but took some time because of the different stages of construction. Scott returned many times as the kitchen construction progressed to complete his work. Scott removed all old wiring, including some knob and tube, then designed and installed new wiring and circuits based on our kitchen plans. Because the new kitchen would have more lighting and outlets, Scott installed a new larger 200 amp electrical panel with room for more circuits.Scotts background as a general contractor was very helpful too as he many times gave me much needed advice and suggestions on the construction rebuild portion of the project. We are very happy with Scotts work, he knows his job, comes prepared, and sees it through. He made suggestions along the way that we incorporated and we now have a beautiful up to date kitchen with all the lighting and outlets we need. Scott also has great people skills, he comunicates well, and is one of the nicest guy's around. It's been a pleasure working with Scott and I would hire him again for any future work.
Description of Work: This was a total kitchen rebuild. Since our house is older, and before the electrical work began, I opened up, prepared and upgraded all walls and ceiling with new construction.Scott then removed all old wiring, including some knob and tube, then designed and installed all new wiring and circuits based on our kitchen plans. A new 200 amp electrical panel was installed to provide room for more circuits. Scott returned many times at varies stages of the rebuild to complete electrical work as the job progressed. All work was done to code and passed electrical inspection.
