In recent weeks Melissa suggested we change the day of the cleanings to better accommodate her schedule on the Eastside. I agreed to the change with apparent misunderstanding of the intent. I expected her visits would be regular and predictable again. However, on the next cleaning day, she called just less than an hour before due to arrive at 9 AM to ask if starting 1 1/2 hours later would be alright. I had something else scheduled and said so. She sounded pressured but assured me they would arrive by 10 AM. She called a short while later to explain that she is unable to be predictable in when they can arrive, explained that customers usually give them a key so they can come and go on a more flexible schedule. She essentially quit this job and did not arrive to clean as scheduled.
I prefer to be on hand to make sure our pets are out of the way while the cleaners are here. I was not comfortable giving the company a key for several reasons, which was not apparently a problem for Maid for the Earth until recently.

Mediocre service. Reasonably priced with decent cleaning services. Unreliable with a no show, late and/or reschedule rate in the range of 50%. Often difficult to reach by phone. Owner/manager originally promoted the appeal of this company as being small, with the same individuals (implied this was inclusive of herself) cleaning the house. However, on more than one occasion, I arrived home to find her colleagues (unknown to me) cleaning the house without the her being present. Due to the scheduling and rescheduling difficulties, services were terminated. The owner/manager's reply to that news was absolutely adolescent and completely unprofessional. I would not have necessarily recommended this company to anyone prior to terminating services, but now unfortunately, strongly recommend against Maid for the Earth.

It’s been an excellent experience. They are very professional. They occasionally forget some minor details. I would recommend them.

Excellent work! This was my first time to have someone come into my home to clean. I was a little nervous. Plus I have my daughter and mother in law at home. I was calmed to know that only natural non toxic products were used. This is the cleanest my house has ever been! I was especially impressed with how all the watermarks were removed from my stainless appliances! Simply amazing! This was my first experience and it was simply perfect! Thanks so much!!

They are very responsive. I really like their personalities, we really get along. They listen to what I need. They are young and energetic. They clean the whole house and do a great job.

They use all green products, which is nice. They split the house into different parts and get it all done pretty quickly. The overall cleaning is good, though the attention to detail could be a little bit better. I like them. Nothing gets broken during the cleanings. We have a dog in the house, and they are friendly with it.

Overall it was fantastic. Our house had never been so clean, not even upon move-in. I was literally dancing for joy when we came home and saw the final results. I thought they paid great attention to detail and my tub sparkled, Melissa worked for quite awhile on the tub and shower and it really showed. We have a black lab and her fur gets everywhere, we could barely find trace of her. I'm very happy with the service and the price.

As a team, they did not carry out the commitment they made when I hired them for the house to be completely cleaned. I would like them to come back and properly clean the areas that they didn't. For 3 people cleaning the house for 5 hours, the house should have been 's*** and span'. I have already spent my cleaning budget of $425 on hiring Maid for the Earth, and I don't have any money left to pay for anymore cleaning.

Terrible Job #1: Melissa was a day late getting to the first job. It took me two calls before I finally got a call back telling me she wasn't going to make it that day.I was going to cancel, but I decided to hang in there. She and her partner came the next day and did a great job on the walls. They were very pleasant. Job #2 Melissa again missed the morning appointment. She arrived in the afternoon with 2 partners.I had to leave before they were done, so I left the list of things to do, paid, and left. Melissa told me that she would return if anything else needed to be done. The next day when I arrived for the walk through with the owner, I saw the oven and regrigerator had not been cleaned and the deck had not even been swept. The owner was kind and gave me another day. I called Melissa immediatley. That was 2 months ago - She still hasn't called back, but she did cash the check promptly.

"This was a particularly difficult time. I cleaned the apartment for a move out and gave her a time estimate which she paid for, and then she left. My crew and I spent 2 hours more than what she paid for, because it did end up taking longer than the estimate. It was raining so hard that day that she said to skip cleaning the deck..it was impossible. She left a note to turn the self clean for the oven on..which we did. But since the cleaning took less time than the 5 hour self clean cycle, I told her we wouldn't be able to wipe it out. The refrigerator did get overlooked and I sent this woman an email telling her I would compensate for what it cost to have the refrigerator cleaned by her apt complex(since they have their own hourly charge for incomplete move out cleans). I never heard back from her. The reason I did not go back to finish was because my car broke down that night on my way back from doing a clean for my parents in Snohomish. I left my phone there and it died the next morning. I wasn't able to make it to my parents promptly to get my phone because I did not have a running vehicle until 2 days later. I do admit that being a small business has had it's challenges, and the recent negative feedback has really hit hard and given me much more insight as to how I can become more organized. There are factors in this world which prevent punctuality, and being that I am present at every job so far, it can be difficult. There are times when I do ask people to be flexible due to unexpected events, and I myself, try to be flexible when my clients are in need. I have learned how to be honest with myself about my schedule, and not to try to make everyone happy by adding them to my schedule and overloading myself. My passion is giving people clean homes and the growing the business and organizational aspects are being developed. It has been a challenge, but I continue to learn!"

I used Melissa a couple of years ago and was amazed at her quality. The reliability was a bit of a problem but I mainly stopped for economic reasons. When I wanted a house cleaner again, I called her. Out of 5 times she came, there were problems which lead to rescheduling 4 times: (1) she forgot and then, when I called, said she would be there in afternoon and then called about 4:30 to say she needed to reschedule. We switched days she was coming to a time when she said she could guarantee there would be no problems getting it done as promised; (2) she locked her keys in the house she had cleaned the day before; (3) her vacuum cleaner broke; and (4) one of her crew was sick or didn't show - again, a late afternoon call when I had guests arriving the next morning. That time I told her I did not want to reschedule. I like her. I think she's honest. I think she takes on probably more than she should. Her cleaning is good but not as amazing as it used to be (I miss the steam I think). I hope she gets it together, gets a bit more organized. I just can't wait until then.

The house was a rental for 4 years and I wanted the house comnpletely cleaned before my wife, son, and I moved back in as our primary residence. Melissa listened to our requirements, performed accordingly and demonstrated great attention to detail and a committment to our satisfaction. She took feedback throughout the process and demonstrated a high standard for completeness and cleanliness - all done with a positive attitude. A great experience for us and money well spent.

We have engaged Maid for the Earth to clean our house on a bi-weekly basis, and are quite happy with the results. The workers are thorough and conscientious. They do a wonderful job of cleaning our house and it's always a pleasure to arrive home after they've been there.

The team did a great job in the hour (and change) that they were at my house. I had them in last minute to get my house cleaned for a special occasion. Melissa fit me into a busy week, which I appreciated. They used mostly a vinegar based cleaner that left my house with very little odor and NO chemical smell. It was amazing. I am excited to find a company that I can use for occasional cleanings.

We've been extremely happy. Her prices are very reasonable, even among maids that don't use green cleaning products. She and her team do a very thorough job. Also, she's been very responsive with items that need special cleaning.

She is an independent worker and is good. I used her twice last year. The first time she came on her own and did the work. She did great work and we were very happy with her. She was reasonably priced too. It took her around four hours to complete the work. The second time when she came out she had a new apprentice with her who was not very skilled. The second time wasn?t as good as the first time. They left with a sort of pungent smell on the mirrors in the bathrooms. There was a big difference between the first and the second time they came out. When they had showed up for work they realized that they had forgotten their product. They were actually missing a whole bunch of products and had to go out to the store and buy the products which took about an hour and a half. They then came back and did the work. This happened when they came out the second time. We never had them back after that time.
Response from MAID FOR THE EARTH
"Some of this is true. I didn't realize I had ran out of Bon Ami when I arrived at the house. This was all I was out of. It didn't take me an hour and a half to run up to the Safeway up the road to grab another can and a cup of coffee. Rather it was about a half hour. I could have gone without it, but some things would not have been as clean as they could have been. I also explained the situation, and she said she was fine with me going to the store. I would have made do if she were on a time restriction. Also, whenever I have a new person with me, I will explain to the client that if it doesn't get done the way it should, let me know and I will fix it free of charge. Since it has been almost 2 years since I cleaned this house, I have found 2 wonderful and thorough team members to help me in my work. If a person cannot clean to the quality my clients expect, I will let them go and continue on my search for a cleaner that can. This person did contact me for a third cleaning even though she says she didn't. I chose not to continue cleaning for this client because she was having us clean hazardous waste(emptying and washing commodes)that would have been a job for a nurse to do. She was also asking my employees to do this(rather than myself) while I was out of the room, and at one point some of the contents of the commode splashed onto one of my employees, which is very unsanitary. Lastly, if there was a pungent smell on the mirrors for a moment, it is because I use a nontoxic vinegar based mirror cleaner, instead of ammonia."

Melissa and her team did a great job cleaning before final inspection of our townhome (the sale of our home closed 3 days later). She was very professional, had a great attitude, and did it all with less than a day's notice. The only minor complaint I have is that there was dog hair left on the stairs of our home. I concede that we do have two dogs and one had been shedding. I would imagine they could have gotten all the hair out but not within our budget. We are considering using Maid for the Earth as our regular housecleaners at our new home. I have no doubt that if I asked them to focus on the dog hair in the stairs, they would take care of it.

Melissa has been cleaning for us for about a year. Initially there were some rough spots as she launched her business but the process is much smoother now. Initially she used a steamer to clean all of the hard surfaces. Unfortunately it was used on a natural finish wood parquet floor, leaving streaks and marks in the finish. Melissa stood behind her then-fledgling business and paid for refinishing the floor. Since that time, she restricts use of the steamer. She uses "natural" cleaning products, like vinegar solutions, which don't pollute the house. She and her workers are fast, careful and thorough. For example, the music room is small. When they depart, it is clean and instruments and music are where we left them. They carefully clean around the stacks of paper on or near my desk and always amaze me at the good job they do in that difficult situation. Lastly, Melissa is very careful and patient with our particular needs and with our procedures to keep certain warring pets in different parts of the house. In cleaning for two adults, a dog and several cats, Melissa and Maid for the Earth are reliable, do a good dependable job within our time constraints and and stand behind their commitment to customer satisfaction. Highly recommended.

Melissa has an awesome work ethic, is meticulous and friendly, uses non-toxic and no-residue cleaning supplies, and ranks right up there with the very best house cleaners I've used in twenty years. She is not particularly punctual, and has had some organizational challenges lately, but that doesn't bother me. Her work is so outstanding that I can be flexible about these things. She will work very long hours to get in all the jobs she has agreed to for the day and she's just as energetic towards the end of the day as she is at the beginning. She seems to want to make sure we get our money's worth each week. Her employees are polite, cheerful, and almost as wonderful--or they're not with her the next time she comes. Overall, she's a huge help to us. Our house is sparkling and we couldn't be happier.

We had Melissa come in for a big cleaning about 2 months ago. She work amazingly hard. We have keep her coming back every week since then. It takes her about 3.5 hours to clean our whole house each week. She does a great job and we are thrilled with her. She doesn't use any harsh chemicals which is one of the reasons we like her so much.
