I go there a lot. They're good at fixing the machines when they need to be fixed. They're prompt on that. The towel service and sometimes they're out of towels. If they're going to have towels, they should have them every time. I've been using them for about six years. The location of the facility is nice. I have a great deal with them. Not everybody has that deal.

The area was fine, the staff are sometimes friendly sometimes they are not.

The staff are pretty good. The facility is clean and they fix the equipment. They have good hours.It works out well for us. They have quite a few locations and you are able to use any of them.

We just quit with them. We were with them for three months. They offered personal trainers. The salespeople were horrible but the gym itself was very convenient. The only reason we were there for so many months was because it was so hard to quit.

The facility has a wide array of equipment and amenities, and it offers several classes. Furthermore, the location and its parking are convenient. My only issue is that the equipment could be better maintained as it seems that many machines are out of service at times.

It’s a nice facility and it has a lot of stuff. It’s big and not very expensive. There is nothing that really stands out to me, but it is a nice place. I think it is pretty cheap, $50 a month, considering what kind of a facility it is. I don't really communicate with anyone; I just go in there and do my thing.

The gym was fine. I went to cancel my membership in May, 2009, as I have begun getting my exercise in other ways. They make it difficult by policy, requiring you to come in to the gym to get a form, then mail it to corporate office in CA. They require a 20 day notice, meaning that they get to charge pretty much everybody an extra month. But all that is in the contract, so OK. I mail in the form with all required information, but decide not to send it certified mail. Big mistake. In September 2009 I got two phone calls saying my account was past due. They claimed that they never received the cancellation notice. Mail really doesn't get lost except very, very rarely (1 in 1,000 pieces?), so I figured the only reason to use certified mail was to protect me from an unscrupulous company that would deny receiving the letter unless there was proof. I just described LA Fitness. Subsequent internet searches found thousands of complaints about exactly this. It seems that they claim to lose most certified letters, too, figuring that it may take you a month or two to figure it out and contact them. Now I can't just cancel because there is a balance owed on my account. To prevent endless escalation of charges and eventual collection, I was forced to pay and bring my account current so I can then cancel it. LA Fitness has this pretty well designed so it can't be proven that they are doing anything wrong, and they have it set up so they effectively milk three or four months (minimum) extra dues out of every member who quits. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I will dispute charges with my credit card company. Be aware of this shady business. RIP-OFF ALERT!
