Kris did a great job on the project. He was an efficient builder and an organized general contractor. He worked from a set of architectural plans, coordinating with the architect on a few occasions. Since he's been a contractor for many years, he was able to give pretty accurate predictions of how long each of the various stages would take. This was important because I was buying the fixtures, flooring, etc., and needed to know when I needed to get something by. I generally talked to him for a few minutes when he arrived each morning, and he kept me informed, and brought up any issues I needed to deal with. Kris was able to provide a lot of good design advice that I relied on. He gave advice on the ceramic floor tile pattern, where to install the tile, how to place the bathroom fixtures, etc. He put a lot of care into the details. There is no interior wall separating the addition from the old part of the house, so he and the drywall subcontractor had to match the existing textured paint to the new paint. There's also a seamless joining of old and new baseboard moldings. He also had to deal with different subfloor thicknesses and different thicknesses of the two new floor types. For the first 3 and 1/2 months, Kris only worked on this project. After that, the remaining work didn't require him to be on site the whole time. He did take one afternoon on one of the first warm days of the year to finish some painting on a previous job, but other than that didn't take anything else on until his work load tapered off. He informed me at the start that he had a week-long family vacation planned two months into the job. He was organized and diligent enough to be able to reach a point where the drywaller could do his work during the week Kris was gone. Kris did the framing, siding, interior carpentry, bamboo floor installation, floor tiling, exterior painting, and cabinet installation himself. He had a skilled group of subcontractors for drywall, plumbing, electrical, roofing, excavation, and a few other things. I was surprised at how smoothly things went on a very complicated project. I was extremely happy with the results.
Description of Work: A new kitchen, bath, and closet were built in a 200 square foot addition. The old kitchen was demolished.
