Our kitchen remodel turned into more than we had originally planned. It went from the kitchen into the living room and beyond. What could have been the project from hades turned into a wonderful finished remodel of which we are proud. It's not often I get to praise someone who provided a service. It seems there's a clown on every street corner saying they can do this or that. Rip-offs one and all. Now comes Sterling Kingman. He's a young fellow who works with one other guy. Talk about great work. Sterling comes through just when you've lost all confidence in mankind. He brings not only terrific craftsmanship, but an eye for detail and design ideas as well. The kitchen tile was lain after the wood floor was installed. I told (demanded really) Sterling to make sure there was no hump between the wood floor and the start of the tile. I was tired of stubbing my toe on the transition. Sterling came through in spades. The line was seamless in every part of his work adjacent to the wood floor. You couldn't tell where the floor ended and the tile began. Perfect. We needed the counter tops cut and installed. He has his own shop. He got the material and cut the hole for the under-mount sink. I've seen cuts from other projects where the edge was "burned." His was unblemished. Not a wrinkle in the cut. All the work on the counter tops and island was impeccable. Really impressive. Then he worked with us to design the new floor in the entry. He showed us great ideas that were then well executed. The topper was the fireplace. We ripped out the old one and hadn't a clue what to replace it with. Sterling came up with a design utilizing a raised Keystone look made from the same tile in the entry. Again, seamless work. I brag about this tile work to anyone who takes the tour. Anyway, it's so wonderful to say nice things about someone and their work. As a further example, he showed us where our kitchen under flooring was an inch and a half off from one side to the other. Using a laser level he discovered the flaw and then installed the floor tile on a gradual slope to make up the difference. Other installers may have just slapped down the tile and called it a day. Sterling went out of his way time after time. I guess it's the reason why he's done work in the famous computer software guy's house. Get him to work in your home. You'll brag too.
