The rebuild is wonderful as the prior work done on them by the prior owners was poorly done.
The final straw for me was upon delivery of the repaired chair the delivery person, who I think is one of the owners, tracked mud all over my brand new living room carpet. When he noticed this as he was leaving he just shrugged his shoulders and mumbled, I'm sorry, and walked out. Like I wouldn't notice or something!
I would not use this company again due to high cost and totally unprofessional behaivor not to mention the damage done to my carpet.
"During the reupholstery process, including the selection of fabrics, we worked with the member & her designer. We showed them fabrics in line with her budget, but she ultimately chose fabrics that were more expensive. We gave the member a discount on all fabrics & worked with her to make sure the job was completed on time. The chair that had a flaw in the fabric unfortunately was not noticed prior to delivery, but was replaced without question & delivered back to the customer. The entry to the home was blocked by vehicles and other items& was only assessible by going through wet grass. One member of the household suggested all was OK. Only later did we know that the member was unhappy."

The wood frame/armrests/legs were refinished so the old scratches and dents don't show at all, and the delicate layers of wood that it's comprised of are now visible once again. The part of the legs that touch the floor no longer are in danger of chipping, and the minor imperfections of the wood show through like a fine old designer heirloom -- better than new, really, since it shows love and character in its history.
Joslin's staff helped me choose the perfect fabric in the color range that I wanted, and one that was quite reasonably priced. Most of all, it's a fabric that can take a good amount of wear without abrading visibly. I would not have known to consider this without her help! She was efficient and fun to work with.
This design of this chair requires absolute precision in the upholstering to look right -- since Saarinen's designs stress clean simple lines. And I am amazed how perfect it turned out. The nap of the fabric runs true to the lines, and the fit is perfect, museum quality! The supports for the seat were repaired and repadded, and now it is hard to keep my son's friends out of it -- it is SO comfortable and unusual a style that they all want to sit in it.
This Grasshopper chair occasionally can be found at high-end auctions, and I'm very happy that Joslin chose to photograph it and post it on their website.
I had chosen Joslin over Queen Anne Upholstery after reading Angie's List reviews. Joslin's pricing seemed more reasonable, but now I think it's not only the reasonable pricing but also the quality of the work that will keep me going back.
"The member's chair was completed and paid for on December 4th. He called a few days later and said he had a problem with the chair, and was asked to bring it in as soon as possible. We had not charged for or done a spring re-tie, as everything seemed fine. We explained this to the member, and offered to re-tie the springs for 1/2 price, to which he agreed. We do not hold furniture "hostage". We are sorry that the member did not call and express his concerns. Had he done so, he would not have been charged."
