I scheduled my service approximately two weeks in advance and had no trouble getting the day I wanted. I dropped my car off in the morning and picked it up again before close of business. Although Japan Auto closes at 4:30pm, it is worth the inconvenience of leaving work early to obtain the service of an honest mechanic. Prior to scheduling my service with Japan Auto, I had taken my car into another shop for an oil change and had been pressured to replace the timing belt on my vehicle. I chose not to replace the belt at that time, but when I scheduled my service with Mike, I asked if the quote he had given me included a timing belt replacement. He was honest enough to explain that my particular engine runs on a timing chain (which did not require replacement at 90,000 miles) rather than a timing belt. After driving my newly serviced car home, I noticed A LOT of fluid dripping from the underside of my vehicle. I took my car back to Japan Auto the next morning without an appointment, and Mike stopped his work immediately to inspect my car and make sure that the fluid was just condensation. He then took the time to explain where the condensation was coming from and why there had been so much of it. I greatly appreciate that Mike is willing to educate his clients about their vehicles. He is always considerate and respectful.

Everything ran smoothly. It's too far from my place so had to take bus etc. though.

The final bill was less than the quote he had given me. My car had been stopping out at stop lights and the dealership had told me it would require extensive work. Mike diagnosed it as water in my gas tank, which would be remedied by adding some alcohol to the gas tank. Sure enough that worked. He saved me a lot of money and was very smart in his diagnosis. He was very accommodating and did not make me wait, the work was done very promptly.

I was impressed with their honesty. They didn't try to talk me into doing a costly repair. They offered their advice, and I decided not to get it fixed. They were very professional and knowledgeable. Mike is a skilled mechanic and I rely on his judgment.

He is fabulous! I have been going to him for 20 years and have always liked how reasonable and honest he is. He provides excellent service. I have called him on a number of occasions with questions about my car.
