They were thorough. Walked through our house and remodel plans and were very thoughtful about what/where to sample to cover us but not over test as well. Also on the call when I scheduled with them the person was very helpful, offering useful information about more than what I was asking about once he heard the nature of our project and age of our home. He coached me on what I do/don't need and it was not an "upsell" at all. Very practical advice was much appreciated! Test results were delivered timely.

Great! Contacted Dan Ventura @ Hawk Environmental, he was helpful & informative. He was able to schedule an inspection within a week. Our inspector, Tony Speer was personable, professional & thorough. We received a detailed report & our testing results in a timely manner. I am happy to recommend Hawk Environmental Services & will hire them again if we need testing!

We were looking to buy a new house and were worried about the "new house" smell that was in the house. Looked up Angies List and selected Hawk Environmental for the job. When i asked for a quote it sounded a bit more than other providers. But am i glad i went with these guys. Dan answered the phone and was very upfront that while they would love to help, they were slammed and may not be able to do it in the timeframe we needed. When I told him that we are running against a inspection contingency deadline, he was very understanding and managed to get a person in for the test on the weekend and also agreed to expedite the result They were very responsive giving updates at regular intervals, punctuality their appointment and very detailed in their testing. Dan was also very enthusiastic in sharing his knowledge very clearly articulating his observations, interpretations and opinions qualifying them clearly. he was very transparent, honest and has a wealth of knowledge in this area On receiving the report, which he expedited and got done in 1.5 days, I opened the lab results and couldn't interpret any f it. Then I realized that Hawk included a second report which had a simple yet articulate interpretation of the results, their testing mechanism and most importantly what was good, what was neutral and what EXACTLY needs to be fixed. This was so well presented that I could present it to the builder with very clear and crisp actions for them Dan even followed up on phone explaining the results to me and was super glad that we found quite high levels of formaldehyde which we hae asked the builder to fix A home is a super big investment and you want to get the best value for your money especially in terms of Indoor air quailty when you have 2 young kids who spend half the day inside the house which in the US has only recirculated air. I am so happy that I found these guys and would recommend them any day!!!!!

Since having a new gas furnace installed in 2010, I have been bothered by a strange smell and headaches during the fall and winter. My husband can't detect the odor and doesn't get the headaches. I contacted several companies who advertise air quality testing and Hawk was the only one willing or able to investigate my concerns. The others all seemed to be focused specifically on mold problems.
Dan Ventura struck us both as being personable, intelligent, and highly knowledgeable about air quality. He carefully toured the entire house, commented on things he noticed, and took readings which he then sent to us in a follow-up report with his recommendations. Those recommendations do not involve installation of fancy or expensive equipment, but are primarily focused on increasing the air exchange in our home with the use of our existing exhaust fans (because, as he put it, "the solution to pollution is dilution"). He also pointed out a change we could make to our furnace setup that might improve air quality.
I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone concerned about home air quality. Not because Hawk is pretty much the only game in town (which they seem to be at the moment), but because we feel we received excellent service at an extremely reasonable price.

Dan arrived on time and was very professional, listened to our concerns and got to work quickly. He took time to explain all the details about our homes air quality and did the testing while answering all our questions. He was very knowledgeable and offered us some great advise. The well written detailed report arrived promptly, together with Lab testing results, was easy to understand and gave great recommendations as well as some good general inspection observations. We were very pleased we chose Hawk Environmental for our inspection.

They recommended that we should be okay if we got some of their services and sold us this and that. The visit itself was a different charge. It was great. He was professional, really knowledgeable and considerate.

This was a simple job to collect popcorn ceiling samples from my townhouse for asbestos testing. Dan was on time for our appointment and did this work perfectly well, but he also took the time to give me some advice on home energy improvements. Because he was on site with the equipment, he even measured carbon monoxide levels at my furnace and flow rates through my bathroom fans, things that usually come with a home energy audit costing hundreds of dollars! He processed the ceiling samples quickly and forwarded me a report that was detailed and professional. The good news for me: no asbestos.

They did a really nice job. It was only $95 because it was a part of the city program. I think it normally cost $400. I never had an energy audit before. The report they sent was very thorough.

"Thank you very much, we are glad that the report provided the information you needed. Seattle City Light's subsidized energy audit program has been a great way for us to get cost-effective audits to home owners."

Dan responded to my email inquiry within hours and because of my situation was able to squeeze an appointment with me a couple days later.
When he arrived on site to test my flooring he was extremely professional and was able to answer all the questions that we had and even did some infra scanning from the basement to see if the water leak we had sunk into the basement at no extra charge to help us determine our next steps (Pretty amazing in this day and age) He was very patient with my very curious 3 year old while he was onsite and did everything with a smile. We got our lab results back the next day and received back a detailed floor plan of our problem and the type of asbestos we were dealing with to make it easy to hand it over to a asbestos removal company for bids.
Having to deal with asbestos isn't something you ever want to have to deal with of course, but if you want to test to be sure these guys are who you should call. Money WELL spent.

Dan and Ben are data-driven, detail oriented, passionate and knowledgable about indoor air quality, honest, want the best for their customers, and did a great job.
I received two quotes for the job (primarily installing an HRV, but also other HVAC-related items). Hawk Environmental came at a lower price point, was far more attentive to detail than the other contractor, and was more willing to work with me to figure out the best HRV unit and retrofit installation option.
Dan answered all of my questions, taught me a lot about HRVs and indoor air quality management, and even came back an extra time to run final "after" measurements just to make sure. He is a true professional, helped save me money by removing some unnecessary items from the original work plan, and was a pleasure to work with.
Highly recommended.

Several months ago I found mold in some drywall of my house and contacted a Seattle based company to come in and do an inspection of my home that included mold inspection and air quality assessment. Dan Ventura was send to my house (he has since ventured out on his own to start Hawk Environmental Services.) This was worth every dollar. I am a new homeowner who got freaked out by the mold- as well as a few other environmental issues in my house- and Dan spent over 3 hours walking through my house with me- educating me along the way- about how to go about fixing existing problems- and what kind of small and very doable changes I could make to prevent further issues. I never felt that he was trying to sell me something-but rather that he was truly listening to my concerns and responding with a genuine interest in improving the air quality in my home. He provided a full report- with a variety of suggestions that I could then address as time and funds allowed. He helped me prioritize- and also said call any time if you have any questions- and he meant it! I have since contacted him 2 or 3 more times with follow-up questions and he has spent up to an hour on the phone with me- helping me filter through a plethora of information I had right before purchasing a new furnace. Bottom line- Dan takes a GENUINE interest in his work and his clients. I would not hesitate to recommend Hawk Environmental Services. Dan's expertise, commitment to the work, and customer service are unparalleled.
