Kurt and his team did a wonderful job. They were professional throughout the process. Kurt took obvious pride in doing the job well and paid attention to detail. His workers are friendly and responsible. This was a big job that took approximately 5 months to complete. We are very happy with the work they did and highly recommend Harjo Construction!

Poorly. I had an appointment for a roofing estimate. I left work early in order to accommodate. Kurt didn't show up, nor did he even call or respond to my email after. I would think there should be enough respect to at least let someone know that you cannot make it. I was not given this respect.

I don't recall the exact details of this situation but I do know that we are NOT a roofing company and don't do roofing bid appointments. So I'm a little confused. There was a time last spring when I had some trouble syncing my calendars which did create some problems. This is an embarrassing and unfortunate situation and I suppose my best Amends to to prompt with appointments and follow up.

The quality of the framing was fine, but the material bill was padded.

Response from Harjo Construction Services LLC
I'm not sure how the material bill was padded. We provide full disclosure of all materials to our clients upon request. In this case, I believe the material in question was for a box of screws. We didnt use the entire box of screws but for small things like this we don't keep inventory and charge to the nearest full size quantity. If use a portion of a 2x4, we have to charge for a full 2x4. It's also likely we used other misc fasteners that were not billed to the project because we had them on hand. This particular project was in part paid for a by certificate for services that we donated to PTA that the client purchased at an auction.

Harjo had done some minor work for me last year, with which I was very pleased, so I called him again for these jobs. The work was very well done, it was done quickly and neatly (no cleanup problems) and at a reasonable cost. I really appreciate the professionalism of his workers. When I have more work to do I will certainly call Harjo Construction again.

When I called them after the show, they were very responsive easy to talk to and understand. In the end their schedule openings didn't match our requirements so we didn't use them. But they gave us referrals to other qualified people and some fabulous advice. I am especially impressed because we were able to figure out the scheduling issues without wasting precious time at a meeting or on site. I appreciated they respected my time enough to go over scheduling, which was a huge requirement for us, and be honest that they were too booked to help us.
Description of Work: We met at the Remodel home show. We were so impressed with their outfit we called them for a huge kitchen remodel and tiny entry addition.
From the moment I first talked to Kurt, I was impressed with his ?can-do? attitude. As backstory, we had just recently bought a lovely 1952 home and upon the second day of moving in, the finished basement began leaking and we discovered mold growing inside all of the walls and under all of the vinyl flooring (about 800 square feet of living space). Upon removing the wall-boards, we also discovered that the window wells were leaking as well. While this was going on, we found out that the back-yard pool (that we were told simply needed a new filter) was 60+ years old and needed to be completely overhauled (resurfaced, new plumbing, electricity, etc). Since the a large portion of what had once been our property had been sold off and developed, there was no room for heavy equipment, which made either replacing the pool or filling it in nearly impossible. Needless to say, we were overwhelmed and upset when we began the hunt for contractors. When I first spoke with Kurt and explained our situation (we hoped to fill in the pool and turn it into a yard, and waterproof and re-finish our basement), he first commiserated with me and then said flat out "I'm going to fix this for you!" and set up a meeting that day. I was immediately impressed with his ability to look at the multitude of projects, make a plan and then get to work. It was certainly challenging, but Kurt found a way to get over the inability to get heavy equipment into the back-yard, which included hiring a tele-belt to shuttle pea-gravel over our roof and doing a lot of the work by hand--including 2 weeks of jack-hammering to get through the rebar of a gunite pool. Kurt?s team is absolutely amazing. I have never seen a group of men work so hard. They were at our home every day by 7am and I am not sure I ever saw them stop to take a break outside of lunch time. They were respectful of our space and time, and always cleaned up after themselves. Outside of the Harjo team (which did all of the landscaping and fencing work, as well as quite a bit of the interior), all of Kurt?s subcontractors were high-quality, polite and hard-working. Kurt?s on-site superintendent, Stacy, was incredibly knowledgeable and very easy to work with. I always felt like I could get ahold of either Kurt or Stacy whenever I needed them. What originally seemed like a desperate situation--moving into a new home only to discover that the finished basement needed to waterproofed and refinished and the pool and backyard needed a massive overhaul--it truly turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We now have a large backyard space with fresh grass, new patio refurbished shed and a beautiful new fence as well as a fresh, finished basement that looks amazing. Kurt and his team can make any project happen. We will certainly be using Harjo Construction in the future!

I really like that he spent the time to talk to us and talked in detail, their proposal was very neat, organized and clear, and he showed up on time.
Description of Work: Harjo Construction Services LLC gave us a quote a week ago for constructing a set of stairs on the front of our house.
Kurt Harjo and team did an excellent job. We had very old failing siding on our south facade. Kurt's team removed the siding and replaced it with clear jointed fir siding and were able to blend in the new siding to the existing old siding on the east and west sides of the house. Harjo Construction worked well with the painting contractor who came in to paint and prep after siding and other improvements; after painting Harjo came back in to rebuild the deck. We had one minor hiccup on the deck design, but Kurt had a guy come out on the weekend to fix it and we were back on our way. Kurt's prices are fair and he's good to work with, he says he wants open and frequent communication and he definitely practices what he preaches. We had a deck put in with Trex and it looks great; it took a little while to complete, but it was early November and really rainy, so the work conditions were a little challenging. But once the team had a couple of clear days they finished it up and cleaned up nicely.
Description of Work: Phase 1: remove siding on south facade, replace siding, replace attic vents, close in unused closet window. Phase 2: Build deck (homeowners demolished) per specifications

Work was very professionally and thoroughly done. No corners were cut. It looks good and was done to last. Just what I wanted.
Description of Work: Repaired eaves near chimney, where wood was separated and rotted. Repaired flashing in same area. Replaced kitchen door. Since it was a small job, the work was done on a time and materials basis.
Took a week to complete work. They were tidy and cleaned up after project completion. Carpentry work on exterior of house and steps very well done. Fixing interior sliding pocket door was a tricky project but was accomplished without having to remove doorway trim. Crew was courteous and communicated well with me. Cost was reasonable. I would recommend this company and would use them again.
Description of Work: Removal and replacement of cedar shingles on second floor exterior south end of 1919 Dutch colonial style house. Demolished and hauled away old, dilapidated shed. Removed and replaced wooden steps on exterior back porch. Removed and replaced approximately 50 square feet of buckled wood siding on house exterior. Fixed sliding interior pocket door that had come off of one of it's anchors.
