Guardian has provided service and monitoring for my Alarm system since June of 2011.
Several months after the service was initiated in 2011 I began to issues with one of my wireless sensors. It took several months to determine the issue (ordering parts added to the delay). The repair technician who seemed to be very knowledgeable about the system said that wireless sensor was having connectivity problems due to the distance between it and the alarm panel. He said that an external antenna was needed to resolve the reception issue but that my panel did not support this, so I would need to consider a new panel. So we agreed that he would disable the sensor and that I would receive a call from a Guardian sales rep to discuss my options.
I never received a call, I reached out several times by phone and email and received no follow - up. Fast forward two years to 2014, I received a letter in the fall of 2014 that my wireless radio (2g) that provides monitoring (I have no land line) was being deprecated and I would need to purchase a new radio (3G). I made one more contact attempt via their website with no response.
I am now working with a new installer and will transition my monitoring service to them as well.
The salesman came out to the house one day after I contacted them, which was great! He showed up on time and was a nice guy. However, he really did not seem to know the products very well. I was interested in a cellular backup service, in case our landline was down. I told the salesman this before he came out to the house, and I told him that cell service was very weak at our home. I wanted him to test the service while he was here, but he did not bring the equipment to do so. I really wanted to discuss options and additional components with him, along with prices. He was not able to give me prices while he was at the house, and didn't seem to know the products very well. He left promising to send an estimate for the different options and componetns that we discussed.
Two days later I received the estimates, but none of the components were itemized. Instead he offered a few estimates with different options, and gave a total price for each one. This made it very difficult to decide what I wanted, because I could tell how much the individiual items cost. We went back and forth via email for several days trying to sort this out. I finally became frustrated with his inability to be specific, and I called Guardian Security and asked to speak with the sales manager. The man I spoke with was very knowledgeable, and very clear about everything. Before speaking with him I was considering going with another company, but there really aren't many options if you want local monitoring. After speaking with him, I felt it was clear that Guardian Security had a great product, offered a great service, but needed to improve the knowlege of their salesman and provide clear pricing. I felt confident that they would provide a great service, and went forward with signing a contract. The sales manager allowed me to make some minor changes to the contract so it better fit my needs, which was a huge plus! I doubt anything like that would have happened with one of the national companies.
A few days later the tech came out and installed the components. He was professional and knowlegeable about the components, and I had wished he had been the one to handle the original sales as well. He discovered that the cellular signal was in fact too weak at my home, so I was not able to get cellular backup. That was fine, as I expected that to happen, but was a little frustrated that the salesman didn't come prepared to test that when he came to the house. Anyhow, the tech installed everything else and did a great job.
I would not recommend Guardian Security because their agents work idependently and the agent that is handling my account is horrible at being correct and at getting things done in a reasonable amount of time. There were numerous mistakes made in the estimates, the contract, and the final invoice. My credit card was over charged, and they have taken over six weeks to refund my money. It's unfortunate, because I think this company has potential, if they find some new management and restructure how they do business.
They have been in Tacoma for a long time. The Mercedes dealership refered me to them as the best to handle my Mercedes lock problem. Great people and great service, and you can go to their store and talk to them face to face (for locksmiths that seems to be rare).I had tried several Locksmiths before calling the dealer. ALL of them were either idiots or scam artists.
While they were here I asked them about my 2010 Mitsubishi flip key, the dealer quoted me well over $300 for a copy. Guardian had it and did the new key for $205.00.
