In 3 words: Dan is awesome! We hired Dan in June 2017 based upon highly positive reviews on Angie's List and NextDoor. If anything, these reviews didn't do justice to the exceptional value Dan provides to his clients. Before hiring Dan, we interviewed several other general contractors - all of whom tried to convince us that the potential problems we wanted repaired were unsalvageable and instead we should pay them hundreds of thousands of dollars for tear-down and rebuild. Dan was different. Instead of jumping to any conclusions, he suggested that we take a closer look at the problems before deciding upon a course of action. Our front porch is the perfect example: every other contractor took a cursory glance (never even bothering to look at the structure underneath) told us the porch had to be torn down and rebuilt. Dan took a closer look and realized that the porch was generally fine, but just needed some surgical repairs and improvements. Over the course of 21 weeks, Dan completed the following work (I'm sure I'm forgetting something... he completed a lot of projects): evaluate and repair the front porch; reuse the existing cedar siding on the porch to minimize expense of unnecessary new materials; replace 4 exterior doors; rebuilt the roof over the rear basement entry (now the entry stays dry when it rains!); evaluate the structure around the back door and complete minor repairs; rebuilt stairway and landing to back door; repair (replacing only when necessary) exterior siding and trim; inspect and seal exterior of house to exclude rodents; complete minor interior electrical repairs, including identifying and correcting safety hazards (non-grounded outlets) left behind by a previous electrician who had been paid to upgrade the knob and tube wires to romex; complete minor drywall repair; repair/restore old windows around house; install new lighting fixtures throughout house; install a new hood (including venting) above stove; repair existing kitchen cabinets; and oversee/inspect the work of an exterior painter, interior painter, and roofing contractor. I can't adequately describe how glad we are to have met Dan. He was WONDERFUL to work with (both personally and professionally) and provided the best value I've ever experienced from a general contractor.

Dan did a great job! Lawn looked great - much better than if my husband and I attempted it.

It went great! Dan is a good communicator and he is willing to work with his clients to do as much or as little as they would like.
