What happens is that they always try to sell you a warranty and then they would say that they would come out and fix it. I told them as to what was wrong with my dishwasher and their representative took one week to come out. I had told them what they needed to bring but they had not given him any information on it. He came out unprepared and so he had to go back to find the part. He was supposed to call back to say whether he was able to locate the part and then it would be seven days to order the part which was a long time to have my dishwasher out. I could have had someone who had the part to come out and fix my dishwasher. They were supposed to call me at 08:30 today if they found the part, otherwise, they would order the part. So, I have been kind of left up in the air. Since, he has not called in yet I am not sure as to how long it would take to order and get the part. Their service person was supposed to come out and fix the appliance since I had bought the warranty. It was very unsatisfying because I bought a lot of warranties at one time for a lot of service things. I bought one for my laptop and when my laptop went out, I had to take it to the store. There was always a huge line. I waited there and then they said that they would take the laptop from me for a week. I did not do that after I bought this black tie protection. I called another company to come because I could not live without my laptop for a few hours let alone for a week. My sister could not figure out as to how to fix the wee and then they said that they would come out and fix it. They said that it would cost $300 which was as much as the cost of the wee. So, I managed to fix it up with one connection. They have neither come nor called yet. Their price was okay considering that this was the second time that this has happened to the dishwasher. The same thing had happened a year ago. I have already got the money out from getting the warranty considering that it was $149 for two calls and several visits, even though it has taken them so long to service it. Their quality of work was not that good as they should have been here the next day to order the part and not wait for a week which was very slow. They were here when they said that they were going to be here. Their representative was very nice. I would use them again in the future for large appliances like a dishwasher or a dryer.

The Geek Squad came to my home and they helped me set up a home network system. The Geek Squad was great but the staff in the store is sometimes good and sometimes not very good. The Geek Squad knew what they were doing and they were able to figure out my system. There was a glitch in my computer and they were even able to solve the problem at my home and it was very effective. The staff that is in the store sometimes seems not to interested in helping me out. They are not as responsive as I would like them to be to my customer service needs.

My navigation system had been ripped from my car leaving a disaster area. Bought a new stereo and had it installed a few days later. The tech put back the ripped out faceplate and also made it so I can listen to my MP3 Player through the stereo. Everyone was very helpful and professional. The only problem I encountered was that the robbers had taken the radio mounting equipment, so I had to go to the Subaru dealership to get new brackets before the radio could be installed. They did a better job than the group that had installed the previous more expensive system.

From the time I dialed the phone to the time I hung up, it was a total of 33 minutes. That was only to schedule an on site appointment! I was bounced around from person to person, no one seemed able to look up my information (I had used them before) or to simply make an appointment. When the call was finished, I was told that the tech would call me, so it turned out I had no appointment set after all. Then, I waited ALL day for the techs phone call which never came. When I got home, there was a voicemail from him on my home phone. What makes that so frustrating is that I was trying to make an appointment for the computer at my office, not at home. I was very, very clear about that when I spoke to the 3 different people on the phone. I never once gave them my home phone number during that call and yet, that's what they gave the technician. I called a different company today (from Angie's List) and an excellent tech was at my office within three hours of that call.

I found that Best Buy actually had the better prices for appliances, compared with some of the other big chains (and believe me, we price shopped!). The sales staff was knowlegable, but not overwhelming. Due to our frequent visits, they came to know us too. The final model we selected had only the floor model available, to which they gave us a significant discount.

Although it took time to track down the former owner's Best Buy performance service plan information, the staff at the 888-best-buy phone line were helpful to verify the plan was in place, transfer it to us as the new homeowners, and schedule the repair for no charge. We later renewed and extended the warranty in our name. The service man was on-time, pleasant, and completed the work quickly.
