Fischer Heating and Air Conditioning

This did not go well at all. First of all I called Fischer Heating & Air in late February, 2019, to set up an appointment for an estimate for a new furnace and what kind I was interested in. Two gentlemen came to my home. Once inside they went downstairs where my existing furnace was located. While they were here, they did absolutely nothing except to stand around for an hour or so talking with each other. I received no service and they never provided any measurements. However, later that same day I received an email message for the cost of a new furnace and an air filter. The gentleman who sent the e-mail whose name was, Mr. Swetman, said he had a space open to install a new furnace the next day, which was Saturday. I called him on the phone and spoke with him and said that I did not schedule an appointment with them to install a new furnace, nor did I authorize anyone to come and install a new furnace the next, so please do not come. I went on to tell him that I was accepting other estimates and that I had one other company coming the following Wednesday, after which I will then make a final decision. When I decided upon another company and not Fischer Heating & Air, two weeks later they sent me a statement for $280.76. No explanation on the statement as to what I was being charged for, nothing. Just an invoice indicating I owed $280.76. When I called to inquire why I was being charged this outrageous amount, they told me they charged a $75 traveling charge, and that while they were at my home just standing around talking for an hour, I was being charged for that time. They never informed me beforehand about the $75 service fee when I originally called and inquired about an estimate, nor did they mention that I would be on the clock while they were killing time in my home for so long. This company is very dishonest, they are not up front with you, and very unprofessional in their dealings with potential customers. Please, if you need a new furnace or are thinking about one in the near future, do NOT and I mean do NOT do business with this company. They are not the type of people you or anyone else should do business with. This company is located in Mountlake Terrace, WA. Mary B. Seattle
