I just joined Angie's List so I am adding the most deserving reviews..For my new garage and deck, .I was having a lot of trouble finding a contractor who was comfortable putting a floating deck on top of a garage. I met Clayton of Evergreen at the Seattle Home Show and he was completely confident that he could solve this problem. I got three bids, and Evergreen's was the lowest by about $9000. He provided costs on several options for different types of decking (ipe versus clear cedar, etc.). My architect for this project was (I realized in retrospect) terrible, but Evergreen suggested some design changes to make it work better and save costs. I also made a few changes during the building process as I realized that the architect's original plans were not going to look good or even work (e.g. moved a window, changed an awning design, moved a door) and even though I was on a fixed bid with Evergreen, they didn't charge me for accomodating those changes. Evergreen used a coating product guaranteed to support the deck sleepers without leaking, and this was the trickiest part of the project. Well, after a record hot summer and a record cold winter that product separated enough from the edge of the deck (flashing?) that the roof leaked in the spring. What a bummer! I called Evergreen, and they came out and over the course of a couple weeks completely took off the railing and the floating deck, brought in Rhino Lining which is serious industrial strength stuff, to spray on a heavy duty coating and then put the deck and railing all back together. This stuff normally costs about $4000 - $5000. Clayton had offered it the first time as an option because it had a 10 year guarantee, but I had opted for a cheaper solution. The best part was that he didn't charge me for the Rhino lining! So these guys stand behind their work. The deck looks great, and Clayton added some nice design touches. And as I mentioned above, I had them come back and build me a shed in the backyard the next year.
