I was looking for a landscaper to do some design work for our house, and was happy to see her send out a special deal to a local listserve I'm on. Always happy to support local businesses, I contacted her and set up a time for the owner to come by. On the day she was supposed to show up, I got a text from her a few minutes before she was supposed to arrive (and I was busy battling traffic to make it home from another appointment) saying she hadn't asked for my address. When I arrived home at our meeting time, I immediately called her back to give her the address but she didn't answer, never showed up, or called to tell me what happened. I heard nothing back from her, until I tried calling her again week later, because I was still willing to give her a second chance and I really wanted the work done. At that point she told me she was too busy to take on any more clients, but could come by in December. December rolls around and I get an email telling me sorry, she won't be coming by because she's too busy. The whole interaction was incredibly unprofessional, and I would not recommend her services based on her lack of care towards potential clients. My husband runs a small business and is meticulous about contacting, scheduling, making sure he is on the ball about timing and knowing where he is going. There's no excuse for not proactively communicating with a client when you've promised to show up, even if there are legitimate reasons for tardiness or needing to turn down a job.
