Earthwise Architectural Salvage

We went to Earthwise looking for vintage light fixtures. While we were there we noticed an apparently brand new Asko dishwasher. When we asked, we were told by the manager it was only $50 because they specialize in vintage items and the company simply wanted to move it out of inventory. We paid, it was marked as sold to us including our contact phone number. We were told they would hold it up to 7 days and we returned the next day (from north of Everett) with our trailer. Up until that point service was friendly, seemed efficient, and we were happy to deal with this business.
Upon arriving, we were told that the dishwasher had actually been sold to another customer 9 days earlier and we could not have it! Apparently it had been marked as sold on top (where it could not be seen on display). We were told they and quot;neverand quot; mark there but the machine next to it was marked in the same place. Since the other buyer was outside of the hold period and we were on site, we asked if they could release it to us and were told no. We asked if they could call us if the other buyer was contacted and backed out, again no. I did not think of it until later, and they did not think of it at all, but another possible resolution would have been to offer us the next equivalent dishwasher that came in.
Our money was refunded, but we were still out the time and fuel for a wasted trip to Seattle. To add insult to injury, when the manager brought our refund it was short $20 and after my husband pointed that out she had to go back and get the rest. Had he not noticed we would have been out even more.
They offered a and quot;too good to be trueand quot; deal. We questioned it and got what seemed to be a reasonable explanation of the low price. It was no bargain and we missed other opportunities in the process.

They do really good job. They send somebody to take a look on the things and they can tell if they can still use it. They don't take everything; you can call them on the phone and tell them what things are to be taken out. If they think they can use it, they send somebody to take it out from your house.
