Don's Gardening & Landscape

Don came by on the same day as I had called, and gave me his thoughts on a couple of different ideas on how a short retaining wall could be constructed on a sloping side of my yard, and also provided a verbal rough estimate. I ended up deciding to postpone the retaining wall, but did ask him to do a lawn edging job. He worked my small job into his schedule, and sent a workman by in a couple of days to do the job - and he did a nice job. Don did the edging job for me himself last year - and had come after hours to do the work on the same day that I had called him about it. Really nice guy.

Don returned the call the next day and came out to look at the job the same day. I called 3 other providers but I only heard from one 3 days later. He quoted a price and a day they could come out. He performed the job as quoted. All this took place over 5 days, very quick in my opinion.

Don surprised me by getting everything done at the early end of my time frame even though he had some other things going. He has worked for me before and his work has always been well done and done within my time frame. He has a lot of knowledge about plants and what grows well where in the Northwest. He is also a nice guy though maybe something of a free spirit. He likes what he does and it shows. I will use him again.

They were efficient, they cleaned up afterwards, and the price was good.

I will never hire Don again. He came out and looked at the job and I told him everything that needed to be done. He quoted me $200 and I said okay. They made an appointment to come out two or three days later to do the job. They didn't quite do all of what I told them that I needed to have them done. They were to get rid of the rats in our house. About half way through the job, he announced that he had misquoted the job he was going to charge $400. I wound up paying $400 because he did not give me a written quote. I didn't happen to think about that until after they had already showed up to do the job. They had to cut a bush that was taller than my house. It was on the property line because I had spotted black rats going up and down the bush. They go up the bush to get up on the roof-line and they jump over on my roof. After they came in and trimmed all the bushes back away from the house, the rats left one bush on the other side of the house that they hadn't trimmed. The next day I had a pest control come out to take care of the rat situation. The quality of the work Don did was good but he did miss one bush. Their punctuality was iffy too. He said that he could come the next day and then he called and said that he had to finish another job first. He took two days to show up. Then he said he would be here early in the morning but didn't show up until quarter to eleven. I will never have him come back again.

They did a fantastic job. They were very knowledgeable about what they were doing. We have used other landscaping services in the past, and they were like just workers. These guys knew exactly what they were doing and looking at, so they were able to educate us about what was in our yards. It was a very cool experience.

I needed to install a hot tub quickly for pain relief. I contacted Don, whom I'd met earlier when he helped me find someone to grind some stumps. I explained why I was in a hurry, and he came right over to give me an estimate. He gave me a very fair bid, and totally understood the need for urgency - he was able to complete the work over the next two days. His crew is great - very professional, polite and hard working. Jeff is great with rock work! The other great thing about Don is that he is local and has been in the business so long, he knows lots of other great contractors for specialty work (i.e. the electrical wiring) and can get things done well and fast. Bottom line: I called Don on Monday evening, and by Friday afternoon the huge raised bed was gone, the wiring was complete, and my hot tub was installed and heating.

They have a schedule and they always come during the week. We never have to call them and they just send me a bill at the end of the month. They are pretty exact about what they did and they are willing to do other things for me if I ask. They are very dependable and very reliable and they do a very good job.
