He contacted us about the middle of June and we met once more to finalize the job and clarify what I was responsible for tearing down prior to is starting. He called about a week prior to his starting date to let us know. He started the early part of July and the job took part of three days. He had to support a customer who had some sort of emergency which involved some work he had done for her so did the best he could to minimize damage to his work to spare her anymore problems. He did an excellent job on the multi angled fence and it looks fantastic. Everything was done with attention to detail. He doesn't cut corners on the materials and execution. One of the loads of fence board he brought back to the house had a few boards he didn't like so he took the time to return them for better ones. He could have easily used the existing ones and I probably would never have known the difference. He also mentioned if we see any boards warping or any other defect to call him and he will come out and replace it. He works in a very crowded and competitive field and I am sure there are people out there as good as he is but I don't think there and many that are better. He is my go to man for any of my fencing needs.

Wonderful! The job was started and completed as expected. Sam has such attention to detail and everything is just perfect from the nails to the board cutting and sanding!

Even though Sam has not finished, he is wonderful, thorough and I feel a true artist. He is fun, professional, happy to be doing what he is doing, shows up, does the work, hand picks the good material, checks in with us about any changes. If he is not here when by the start time, he tells you what he is doing, which is still doing work for our job. Maybe he is picking out the wood, or obtaining more posts, or doing a dump run. Whatever it is he is on our job unless he says otherwise. He is not finished yet, but we have got to keep him in business so Seattle gets more beautiful fences.

Sam was always there when he said he would be and takes great pride in doing a quality job.  We are already planning on using him for several other projects because we appreciated his professionalism and competence.  The fence is exactly what we wanted and Sam helped with design ideas all along the process.  I also appreciated Sam being very upfront about what him and his team are good at and what they do not do.  Some landscapers promise the world and don't deliver.  Sam promised a great fence and definitely delivered.

Sam did a wonderful job. The price was reasonable, they started and finished the work as scheduled, and the work itself was top notch. I would highly recommend them, they are highly professional and worked closely with us to ensure the work was done to our complete satisfaction.

Sam did a fantastic job in removing the demolished portions of the fencing and taking them away.  He kept it very clean.  He then added new cedar boards and made our fence look for up-to-date (estate-style fencing) with caps on the posts.  He removed portions on the gates that had door knobs put in years ago but were not latching properly.  He took added in new boards and added new latches that work much better for keeping our dog in the yard!  Overall, the fence looks great!  He's very quick and very professional.

The project was great and I'm really happy with the results.  Sam worked with me to determine what kinds of materials, colors and design would work best for the site, and came up with some creative solutions.  He had to reschedule a few times due to other commitments, but it wasn't a problem and he was very responsive and a pleasure to work with.  He took a really run-down gravel patio and turned it into a beautiful paver patio.  I would definitely work with him again in the future.

It was a great.  Sam is the owner and has a real hands-on approach and is very detail-oriented and stands behind his work.

I contacted Sam Hyde (business owner) in early April to get an estimate.  He came out April 9th and gave me the estimate.  He was busy the rest of the month and we scheduled May 11th as the start date.  He arrived promptly on the 11th and spent the day installing approximately 13 4X4 fence posts in concrete.  He came back the following day and installed the remaining 4 or 5 fence posts.  He added a nice touch by smoothing out the base of the concrete around the fence posts.  May be a small feature but still very nice touch.  The next day he installed one 8 ft. section and asked for confirmation of the design before he went any further.  Design was just as he said it would be and he had shown me pictures as well. He installed another4 panels before rain cancelled the rest of the day.  He had another job he was working on that required nice weather so he finished that on the last two days of the week.  He had informed me of this so it wasn't a surprise.  He came back next week and continued.  A design issue occurred on a long stretch of panels that are very visible in the back yard.  He did a step down of approximately 6" and my better half decided she didn't like that.  She mentioned it to him and he promptly corrected it. I'm sure he wasn't happy about having to tear down a completed panel but he never showed it to us.  He spent 2 1/2 days completing the fence.  Attention to detail was excellent.  Sam is  very personable and professional in his job.  I was very pleased with the finished product and will hire him again for any fencing needs.

Sam is truly a stickler for detail. His work ethic and skill are truly exceptional. He also is very transparent about his process - he was explained everything he did along the way. He also put extra thought into how to make every step better than even what he originally envisioned - without charging an extra penny for his perfectionism. He worked hard overall to save us money at every turn. The end result was an absolutely STUNNING retaining wall and fence. I really can't recommend him highly enough. I know it's smart to get 2-3 estimates for a job, but after meeting with Sam, I knew he was the guy for the job, and I was right.

My husband and I were extremely happy with the open communication, punctuality, willingness to work with us on the price and the quality of service.  It's a well built fence that is sturdy and looks great!  Receiving compliments from neighbors!

Perfect in every way!  The fence is truly a work of art.  Sam is the best and we look forward to hiring him again for future projects. We could not be happier with the new fence.

Sam did a phenomenal job.  His original bid was very detailed and actually came in slightly under the other quotes that we received.  Sam was patient with us as we changed our minds on installing a flagstone patio for a cheaper pavers patio.  Sam has a great design aesthetic and gave us great advice on which type of stone and color scheme to go with.  We ended up with a Villa Stone pavers patio in Granite with a Roman Stack retaining wall with cap for bench seating. 
Sam and his crew were very self sufficient during the entire patio install.  The entire install took about 2 weeks and the patio looks amazing.  Sam has a great eye for detail and made sure the patio turned out perfectly. 
We definitely plan on using Sam again to extend our retaining wall and install a fence!

All we can say, that they did a great job with everything. What more details do you need? :-)

When I met with owner, Sam Hyde, I was impressed with his experience and knowledge of what materials and design would work best for my fencing challenges and needs: privacy, pet-proof, odd property lines and a lot of older plants that would need trimming and removal. I was also impressed with Sam's professional attitude, willingness to answer all my questions, and his suggestions for ideas and materials that I hadn't even considered. I loved one design on his website very much, but wasn't sure what it would look like in and quot;real life,and quot; so Sam created a large panel for me to look at up close before committing to the design. It was a great introduction to a beautiful fence, so nice my neighbor decided to hire Sam, too.



Sam is very flexible and unflappable when an unexpected and quot;speed bumpand quot; pops up on a project. He lets you know what he ran into, gives you some ideas for solving it, goes ahead and solves the problem, and smoothly moves on. I was confident this project was in good hands.



I look forward to working with Sam on future landscaping tasks and am happy to recommend him to anyone looking for a highly qualified landscaper who does a great job, meticulously cleans up and hauls away old fence and yard waste as he goes, and builds a fence that will make you smile every time you pull into the driveway!

Both parts of the project went very well. Sam is intelligent and personable and goes out of his way to provide the best quality for the greatest economy. The flagstone path went together like a well-crafted mosaic. Eight months later, it is solid and has no weeds coming through - as i see so much in less professionally set flagstones. The stairs are beautiful and carefully tailored to the steep incline, with a solid landing and handsome cedar railing. We also requested an informal path into the garden to one side of the landing and Sam got large stones and set them on gravel in a pleasing angle. We had to wait awhile for him from path to steps, but he had lots of work this summer, which is understandable.
He has a good web page and gallery and I would advise anyone thinking about fencing or hardscaping to check it out and not wait until the high season.

Sam did an excellent job on our fence. I obtained four different quotes for the work and Sam's was on the lower-end cost-wise, but I chose him due to his attention to detail. There were several tricky spots to build around, so he spent a lot of time up-front and during construction to make sure everything was perfect. He was also very careful to not damage existing trees or sprinkler systems piping...something a couple other companies specifically said was and quot;not their responsibility and they wouldn't be held liableand quot;.
The work was completed quicker than expected and I can't say enough about the quality of workmanship, materials selected, and the design. Just an excellent experience overall, I would certainly recommend Sam Hyde and Dogwood Designs for anyone needing a wooden fence.

Sam was a pleasure to work with. He went above and beyond, helping move some old concrete slabs in the back of the property left over from who knows when (we have a 1907 Ballard bugalow). Our next door neighbor replaced her fence between our yards (it was a short fence) and Sam made sure everything matched. We let them use our outdoor electrical plug to build our neighbor's fence, they were very curteous asking first. The fence is beautiful, and it is like we have an outdoor room.

Excellent. This is the third or fourth project we've engaged Sam to undertake. He has a great design perspective, is cost and schedule conscious, honest and professional. Sam would engage us immediately if he encountered any situation that may result in a change; yet, he is definitely not one of those contractors that look for all opportunities to increase scope/costs.
Not only are we pleased, our neighbors have shared very positive comments as well. I often see folks walking by pause and look the work Sam completed.
