This was my second time using DC Coatings and also my last due to serious overruns in cost and project run time. The estimated time for completion of the project was 4 to 5 days with a three person crew however DC was still struggling to complete work 9 days later. For the first several days only one crew member was sent and only during the painting phase did we ever have a full crew present. Despite DC having full visibility on the scope of the project we were not notified of additional costs until three days before its completion. The final invoice was 30% higher than the updated cost we had recived a few days prior and 50% higher than the original estimate. DC coatings is capable of good quality work, we were impressed with the results the first time we hired them to paint walls and trim elsewhere in the house. However the quality of the work was not as high for this project as what we had previously experienced: I found wall paint on the ceiling, several areas with incomplete coverage, overspray on tile, moulding that interferes with door swing and a window that was forced open over a security rod and was damaged. They did offer to fix the issue with the interfering moulding however their preferred repair was to cut off the bottom of the door so I declined. If you choose to use DC Coatings make sure you set a budget in stone and have plenty of time to take off work.
