Furniture - Sales
We made the purchase online in April and at the time of order the set was back-ordered. The website indicated that the set would not be delivered until the last week of May. That was fine with us and we placed the order. May came and went, and we had heard nothing from Costco. No email; nothing. So a couple of weeks into June I finally got around to calling Costco to figure out what was going on. The lady at Costco.com customer service said she had a note in the system that said next week things would be delivered. That would of put us at mid-June--three weeks after the stated delivery time. They finally called us in and we arranged delivery with the delivery company--Thursday, June 27 between 11 - 3 pm. I took the day off of work in order to be there to receive the couches. 3 pm comes and goes and nothing. I finally call at about 4 pm that afternoon to see what in the world was going on. They indicated the driver was behind but confirmed with him at about 3:45 that he would be at our place within 45 min - 1 hour. I waited more until it was approaching 5 pm. Nothing--no call, nothing. So I called again. This time the gal on the phone tells me that the driver was notified and that he confirmed he was en route to my place and that he would be there within about 35 minutes, which would have been about 5:30 max. I waited more. 6 pm and nothing. By 6:15, I called again and the driver as it turned out had broken down 15 minutes prior to my call and would not be able to make the delivery. Needless to say I was furious. When were they going to bother to call me? An entire day wasted for nothing.
Called Costco and they re-assured me that things would be set right. Given Costco's reputation, I obliged and let them re-deliver--I had no choice anyway. Saturday, June 29, between 8 am -10 am was the next window. They guys came before 8 am and dropped the boxes at my back door--4 large boxes. When I proceeded to ask them about putting the couches in my living room, they told me that they didn't have time to put the coaches in my living room--it wasn't in their schedule. I thought they were joking. White glove service that Costco stands by, right? They offered to move the boxes in my living room as if that was any help.
Never again will I order furniture from Costco.com--NEVER! When I called them to express my disgust with their service, they promised to set things right and "compensate" me for my mis-fortune. So they called me today, July 3rd, and offered me a WHOPPING $100 in compensation. To put that in perspective, that's 3% off of the sale. 3%!
I would have been less insulted if they never followed up with me. Buyer beware.
