It was suggested to me that my hearing was so bad that I needed a cochlear implant. So, I went to the office at Washington University and they ran a couple of tests and they approved me for the surgery. Later, after they said that I was a good candidate, they sent me a form saying that if my insurance did not approve the surgery, then my appeal would be turned over to a group of appeals lawyers to appeal to my insurance company. None of this was mentioned to me while I was in the office and Medicare pays for cochlear implants, so I don t know why they wanted to involve my insurance company. When I told them this, they said that they wanted it in writing and I refused to sign. I called them again a couple of months later and the secretary said that it takes a while for the insurance company to respond, and that was a long time ago. That was the last I heard from them, and they never called me back. I am very angry with them.
