no problems. They were thorough and professional and left no mess. The furnace works fine and we love the new thermostat. We had several bids and the Burien owner, Eric, clearly knew the most about the subject and what was best for our situation. The price includes tax and reflects the $325 PSE REBATE.

Job completed on date and on time. Assisted with PSE upgrade and installed on site tank-less water heater plus additional gas line shutoffs on old line plus to dryer area. Searched for a company with their experience on installing tank-less water heaters and the ability to service my gas furnace. Finally found a company that does an excellent job for a fair price that has both the technical and prompted service for hopefully years to come. They can put me on a list of future references sense the tank-less system is working great!

Contacted Burien Natural Gas on Monday, had Salesman (Jeremy) out on Tuesday, had furnace installed on Thursday! Everyone was polite, professional and ON TIME! Installation was quick and not a spot of dust was left. I would highly recommend them to others.

I got multiple estimates for my new ductless heat pump systems and they came in with one of the better bids, their being local is a plus. Worked with Jeremy for the estimate and scheduling. They were great in accommodating a schedule change that became necessary when a different company that was hired to do some retrofit pour-in insulation of my walls and dropped the ball with several delays.
I am very happy with my new system and the follow ups I've received to make sure the system was performing well.

They are very personable. It's a smaller business so they talk to me directly about what they are going to do. Their in-home assessment is very good. I wasn't crazy about the particular contractor that they sent me but the work was satisfactory. I didn't do channel shopping around on price.

Our furnace broke down on a Friday night before guests were due to arrive and the coldest night of the year before the big snow storm. At 8am on Saturday we called a variety of companies from AL to see who we could get to come out on a Saturday. BNG responded quickly or may have actually answered their phone (many didn't despite listing Saturday service). We were pretty sure the blower motor was broke and we'd need a new one. Some companies wouldn't be able to get a new motor until mid-week. BNG told us they had a new motor available and would be able to send someone out within an hour. They quoted us a price for the motor and an hourly install rate, which was a bit higher because of Saturday, but we needed the repair. They were very close to us and had a better hourly Saturday rate than the others we talked to. The repairman was nice and informed us that we had a furnace that is bordering on old (over 15 years) and that we might expect to replace it soon. There were no major issues with the repair. The only thing we were bummed about was that the rate quoted on the phone was based on the install only taking 1 hour, which seemed acceptable since it was so cut and dried, but it ended up taking 2 hours so it was more costly than were hoping. But I guess we should have asked how long such an install typically takes so we could have been better prepared for the added expense. Overall we were very pleased and wouldn't hesitate to call them again after the responsive and complete service.
BNG didn't come up in the list of nearby furnace repair companies on AL when I first searched, and they are very close to us. We would have missed them had I not dug deeper into other options when nobody was calling us back from the companies who were listed as nearby....

I called to make the appointment Wednesday afternoon, and they showed up Thursday morning to do the work. Jon offered a coupe different options: removing the line completely and capping off outside or moving the line to a lower position (in case we ever changed to a gas range in the future). We chose to just cap it off for now since our range is only a couple years old. He worked quickly and got it done within an hour. He was very courteous and did exactly what I needed. We will definitely be using them again for any future gas needs we have.
Also, they were recommended to us by Ballard Natural Gas who is highly rated here on Angie's List. The owners of Ballard Natural Gas personally know the owners of Burien Natural Gas, and said they trusted their quality of workmanship and frequently recommend Burien Natural Gas to customers who are located in the south Seattle area.

Terrible.... Never again will I use this company. Originally I was requesting a quote to replace a fireplace with a gas insert. The salesman talked us into purchasing a whole house central air furnace system. The salesman was very friendly and seemed happy answer questions. He quoted that the work should only take 1 day to complete which seemed incredibly fast to me. I questioned this quote and I was promised completion in one day.
We scheduled a date and time which they were approx. 4 hours late to arrive. Upon arriving, they did not have the correct parts and tools to start the job and had to go back to the office. The installation took 3 days over the course of a week, in which the house was consistently left as a construction zone. They did not clean up the mess they created at the end of each work day and when I requested that they do clean up the mess, they did a very poor job at that. Their technician tracked mud into the house even though there was a mat for him to wipe his feet. He refused to wipe his feet after being asked and left mud in the bedroom where the attic access hatch is located. When I asked him to clean up his mess, he refused. They also left sheet metal clippings, cut zip tie remains, pieces of duct insulation, sheet metal screws, and other various material in my attic and around the bedroom floor below the attic access. The attic had been completely cleaned of all debris previous to their arrival on site as my goal is to convert the attic into a living space/storage with floor boards and no insulation showing.
They preceded to drill 5-10 pilot holes in my ceilings to place the vents, but did not fill the remaining holes leaving pox marks around the vent in the ceiling. They also took a reciprocating saw through my brand new ceiling and wall that had just been completed the week before, cutting large lines through my living room's drywall to remove part of the top plate in a wall where they were installing the return air duct. Upon noticing the 6 , 8-10 inch long holes cut into my new ceiling and wall, I pointed it out to one of the workers, who stated he was the owner of the company. He suggested I just take a dab of drywall mud on my finger and run it through the cuts, and that would look just fine. I informed the company that the ceiling/wall had just been completely finished the previous week and they conveyed no concern and did not even offer any compensation for the damages.
Other quality work consisted of a large drain tube being run down the middle of a wall in my laundry room to the laundry drain pipe. To achieve this, they drilled a large hole in my ceiling of the laundry, but not in a corner. When I asked why they did not have it drain outside as most homes do, they told me they didn't have the parts to do that, and that they could move it if I wanted, but they would not repair the hole they cut in my ceiling as that is not and quot;their professionand quot;.
They had a hard time getting the gas pipe from the gas main into the attic, so they cut a very over sized hole into the soffit to get the pipe to fit. I asked about critters climbing into my attic through such a large opening and they came up with a solution of using wire mesh around the pipe and attached to the soffit. This was a satisfactory fix for me but they didn't pass inspection with the gas inspector. They had to replace the wire mesh with a solid piece of metal.
The control wire from the furnace to the thermostat which is mounted on a wall in the living room, was strung across the attic floor and not attached to the rafters. Neither was the duct work that was run. This was requested during the quote process and was brought up often to be sure they new I wanted everything flown where possible. Their solution was to give me a roll of nylon strap and tell me to wrap it around the duct work and staple the strap to the rafters along with and quot;just step over the cableand quot; regarding the control wire across the attic floor.
One good thing they did do was install the correct gas fitting into my dryer so that I could use it with natural gas as it was previously setup for propane. The owner of the company was the one who did this and actually walked me though the process. There was no charge for this and I hope this was not his way of and quot;making it up to meand quot; for all the other bad things that occurred during the job.
My final complaint is the way they left my fireplace. As part of the total job, they plumbed gas lines to 5 locations. One location requested was into the fireplace as I plan on installing a gas fireplace there in the future. The line they ran into the fireplace did not meet code and failed inspection. The inspector said they improperly secured the pipe entering the fireplace and the wrong pipe material was used, requiring replacement. Burien Natural gas preceded to strap the existing pipe correctly while the inspector was on site, and told the inspector they would replace it at the time of the fireplace installation if the inspector passed the inspection. The inspector then signed off and the pipe was never changed.
About 2 months after the installation, I had a concern about a gas leak, so I called the utility company to come have a look. The person who came out checked everything and had many comments on Burien Natural Gas's work, all bad.
The system they installed has had no issues since the install and everything seems to be working fine. If you are willing to clean up after the construction crew and repair all damages they do to your home, and have time to wait for them to show up, then this might be your company as they are a little cheaper than the competition.

The quote process was thorough. The only ambiguity was with permits. Unless you specifically ask for them, they don't tell you that you need them. It's up to you. All follow-up questions were answered immediately when comparing quotes. The installation took a day longer than told but that was because only one guy was sent to do the whole job. He ran about 15 min behind on showing up but that was due to traffic to our location. He installed everything as was on the bid. He did a good job, cleaned up after himself and explained the thermostat and system when he was done. The installer made adjustments to the installation as was required by our house. I would recommend this company, just make sure everything is spelled out clearly on the bid.

"Hello, The permits are different in every city and almost always required but not in every case, Home owners sometimes get their own permits depending on what kind of project it is. We now always include that cities requirements. So, thank you for your feedback. Jeremy"

They were awful. They initially had put our insert in and about a few years later it started shorting out. When we took it open we noticed that there was a wire melting because it wasn't installed properly. When they came to fix it, they charged us to fix their mistake. It smelled really bad and they came back. The guy was just terrible. He said he couldn't diagnose anything and that he would have to try different things. Then I got a bill in the mail that said after diagnosing problem. I told them I was not going to pay the $1200.00 until the owner of the company called me because I wanted to talk to him. They never did and I never got a bill. We spent about $3500.00 altogether.

They were near by and had a better price than the competitors. They seemed equally professional, if not more so, than the competitors as well. The installation went very smoothly from start to finish. The furnace worked great all winter.

While we had an extremely positive interaction with Burien while we evaluate our heating options (changing furnace, doing radiant flooring, etc), the quality of their work was absolutely horrific and they were unresponsive when we had no heat for the month of December in our two kids bedrooms because of improperly installed ductwork. The punchline is that they returned to our house over five times, each time to remedy a significantly flawed install problem that we were forced to identify because of complete lack of engagement from them. They were eventually fired by our contractor and another company was brought in to redo and complete some of their work. Personally, I'm stunned by the positive reviews they have on Angie's List and happy people have had positive experiences with them. However, there are a lot of HVAC companies in the Seattle area and under no condition would I ever consider hiring them again and will actively dissuade colleagues and friends from using them. The most significant issues were: 1) We were responsible for troubleshooting major flaws in install. Had we simply continued the project and assumed that the install was correct, we would have drywalled and finished a space giving no access to their work without demolition. The financial risk was huge. They were completely unresponsive and - when they did respond -- dismissive of our concerns. A lawsuit was on the corner for them; the only reason it didn't happen was that our contractor handled the experience and it's up to him to decide what to pay and/or request as a refund for horrible work. 2) Work was at best incompetent and at worst installed with malicious intent. When one room had no heat, Burien sent a contractor to evaluate the work. He was dismissive, saying it was what it was and that it was probably in existing ducts that they weren't responsible for (forget the fact that the rooms had heat before we contracted them). After repeated visits of them a) dismissing our concern and b) trying to get us to install an expensive fix (route a new return from the second floor to the basement), they discovered that -- oops -- the installer had closed the duct during the install. There is absolutely a) no way the duct could have closed itself, as one of their employees later told us and b) no reason that duct (or any, for that mater) should have been considered for closure since it serviced a bedroom. I'm running out of space due to Angie's list word count limits. Other things that went wrong: - Burien used flex ducts in ineffective manners -- routes longer than recommended, with sagging and crimping and in the middle of a duct run, despite the fact that this is highly recommended AGAINST by both the department of energy, the government run energy star program and multiple HVAC societies. Burien "forgot" (incompetence or malicious?) to route a cold air duct in a critical space - then attempted to improperly short-cut it with an improper install.
